Sorry for the stupid question but why is there 2 install packages Rar 1 and RAR 2 look to be the same packages.... can anyone please explain why the 2 installs?

Questions cant be stupid, only the answers can...

Part 1 and part 2 are divisions of one bigger pack.
They cannot be used separately.
If you try to un-compress one of them alone, it will not work.
You need both to obtain the final files.
Use Winrar to do so:

Olymoon... thank you so much I agree that there are no stupid questions, and you are very kind to help... my worse nightmare would be to try something and corrupt my hard drive. Usually I'd see 2 rar files that you start to extract the first one and then it would automatically to to the 2nd rar and end up with one set of files. The other thing was when I went to unpack the RAR Microsoft defender (I thought I had it off) came up and gave me a warning, then the computer locked and said "Call Microsoft" and I know that is a bad thing... so, I was concerned of a Keylogger or malware.... Like I said, I do not want to crash my computer :-) By the way any time I can help someone out I am happy to do so....

I understand your concern, but look:
The release is made by R2R, and posted by DECiBELLE. Both renowned team and poster.
Defender, on the other side, is known to be a bad antivirus and give a lot of false positive.
The alert you received is due to a wrong use of heuristic detection by Defender.
Heuristic detection is meant to detect "strange behavior", which obviously is what a patcher will do.
But defender make up alerts from this, instead of informing clearly the user saying that there is something unusual, so you could take your own decision, Defender (Microsoft) think that you are too stupid to take your own decision, and it just make up a virus alert, while the truth is that Defender don't know what's happening.

You can easily find more information about heuristic detection, searching with Google.

I can guarantee that this release is complete clean.

Olymoon, thanks for your great explanation and I have only recently started using defender and your are correct, they do create false positives... I was just wondering (and a bit concerned ) but, with your explanation that makes sense... I will ignore the alert! I do appreciate your taking the time to help me out.

Seems like the program installed great... didn't run in to any problems... Like I said, It's been a while doing any of this I just wanted to see it worked and how fast it is :-) thanks again for all the info.
