But what exactly is so bad with the VR stuff...i just installed Halion 7 from VR and it works fine...i blocked it in net Limiter...for me the only question is...is the R2R stuff more secure/safe to use?

If I want to correct you, first of all, if you install the old version of silk, it is no problem to use the official halion 7 installation package directly. I have never used the Steinberg software of V. R version, because I feel more relieved by the way R2R is cracked. V. R is also a very powerful team, but software like ujam seems to be unable to crack it perfectly, but R2R can make it run offline. In my mind, R2R is dam god！

in steinberg vr patch, they crak wintrust.dll (microsoft windows file) . They put a old dll in the system, and lots of other legit or no vr plugins or apps crash (random).
Vr also load steinberg licensing. always in memory, slow load of apps and slow process in computer . . .
Vr works fine, but r2r works better if you trust in r2r and put the r2r certificate.

In the past I had significant problems with the Steinberg cracks from VR, because they overwrote the legitimate software authorizations. Whether this is still the case, I do not know. But the experience that my original softeLic licenses were gone (forever) was enough for me once. A second time I will not try this.

I am glad that VR exists and some cracks they do really well. But all in all, their cracks are often quick fixes (rev 1..2..3..) and usually technically not on the same level as R2R cracks.

The Steinberg crack is R2Rs Masterpiece so far. You can even switch between legit and cracked version easily, so if you would need Steinberg support: no Problem.

Installer doesn't install anything under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg and neither the test.exe under C:\Program Files\TEAM R2R\Steinberg Silk Emulator.
With AV turned off.
Reinstalling previous version does everything and works no problem.

EDIT: tried on other 2 machines (w10/w11), same story.

Did you uninstall 1.1.1 before installing 1.2.0?
If you didn't it means it's still using the files installed with previous version.

You can't wait until that day because Steinberg's authentication method is not allowed unless they remove the authentication system.

The installer doesn't install the SilkEmuTest.exe but it did install the license-engine-access.dll file

I copied both file from previous installation, uninstall, then install the v1.2.0. Result :

1. SilkEmuTest return result with everything working.
2. the license-engine-access.dll file is same size (6.37KB) with the v1.1.1, could be the same.
3. Cubase, Nuendo xx.xx.52 both running fine.
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

Check the version: my old one is from 2022-06-16 and has 6,528 bytes

I did it the way you said but a .DLL file is NOT written into the correct directory:"%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Steinberg\Activation Manager\license-engine-access.dll"
Also, the silk emulator isn't stored in the directory: "%PROGRAMFILES%\TEAM R2R\Steinberg Silk Emulator\" as it should but only the standard two files of the Installshield uninstall information.
All in all that seems to be everything the installer installs :)

So I think we have to wait for a corrected installer.

btw.: I installed Halion 7 from Steinberg DL manager and it worked with the old .DLL as well.

Well according to a great friend the current installer does this:
