Not the best 5150 amp sim I've tried, but it certainly gets the job done! I haven't tested it since it first was released though. Sigma and RVXX was greatly improved with the EX updates, so maybe this one sounds better now as well?

This is one of my favorites, I bought it a couple months ago, it's dirty cheap and the developer is from my country so I got to support them. What I like about this one is the definition in the top end and the depth, it doesn't feel over-compressed in the mid & low ranges like a lot of amp sims nowadays (the vast majority of Neural DSP's catalog).

This is the only amp sim where I never use a tube-screamer (or any other distortion/clipping stage) before the amp, it just sounds better that way to my ears.

The sound you get out of it (even with the tube screamer enabled) can't be really considered modern, I think it is because of the not-overcompression, but it will make a great classic heavy metal tone.
MY GEAR: Only Hi-End HW sonically engineered for us cats, which you've probably never heard about and will never have access to, cuz we r awesome and u suk.

As most Kuassa's, Vermilion is nice, but certainly not the most versatile.

Sascha Eversmeier's genius Vandal kills it by far. He virtualized absolutely everything involved, from input to the speaker coils, action, counter-reaction etc. As for realism, to this day, it's unbeaten.

If you play real tube amps, you can only love it. If you never played one - it happens - you'll be certainly lost for some time... hours... Until you reach that epiphany.

DAW, any idea if any of the vandal amps are floating around anywhere? I've never heard of them and want to check them out.

I was digging around and it seems he sold the rights many years ago and he took everything down and all the links I can find just redirect to the magix site. I found all of his old sites, but no luck on finding the actual amps.

I have used tube amps since mid-late 70's i am almost 60 years old i started to play guitar when i was 11 years old and during all those years i also tried alot of the "sound like tube amps" gear that people invented over the years.

Today i have only 2 tube amps and a modeler that i use for both effects only and amp modeling using 4 cable method.

And no Vandal isn't most authentic, far from it, and it doesn't feels like the real deal either no ampsim does it is all imaginary opinions and alot of placebo from the ones who said that this and that ampsim sound and feel like the real deal

And noone would ever make it thrue a blind test.
And of course noone would ever show up if i invated them to a real test using only their guitars and maybe their own cable as they KNOW they will most likely fail the test.

When it comes to authentic amp sound no ampsim beats Helix thats for sure but you must use IR's not built in hybrid cabs
Neural,Mercuriall,STL is very close but they also tend to make their ampsims sounds "better" and more polished than the real deal aka it's not not authentic.
