When you compare any of RP synths to Dune, Massive X, Serum, Spire or Synthmaster, they fail every time. I did not even mentioned u-he (they deserve better synths to compare them with ). I tried latest predator which was nothing when compared to the alternates I mentioned.

Competition is on another level today. Today, we have better sounding, more featured, less cpu consuming, and faster/easier GUI synth plugins.

That's obvious.

My opinion is technical and objective. I would prefer free Vital or open source SurgeXT anytime over any of the Rob Papen synths.

Subjectively speaking, one can make good songs with any synth or effect plugins today.

Many edm and hip hop songs can be recreated with just Sylenth1 but it does not mean Sylenth1 can do more than Dune 3.

RP's plugins have very good ideas in terms of sound engine and also great coded (apart from protection ), but i find it not so great how the GU's are more of the time are layed out.

I mean always remember RP came up with the concept of Albino, which is still a fucking amazing synths by todays standards. the actual GUI design did somebody else - i am to lazy to actual open the plugin and look, who designed the GUI.

But this is my opinion. I am sure there are people, who are happily using his products and make good sounds with it.

I never said people can't make good songs with RP plugins . Everybody prefers something.

People can make kickass songs with stock plugins. You use ableton and ableton has great synths and plugins which covers a wide range of production needs.
