Reason RE Synapse Audio Obsession v1.1.0-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 09 Sep 2021 | 7.3MB
Obsession brings the power of a great polyphonic vintage synthesizer to your fingertips. It combines the astute modeling of voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), voltage-controlled filter (VCF) and voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) with a comprehensive individual voice control that has never been done before in this detail.

• Poly Synth Emulation
• Precise voice board control
• High-quality patch library

Obsession is a powerful vintage synthesizer emulation. At its core, it uses a classic synth design comprised of two oscillators, a switchable two/four pole low-pass filter, two ADSR envelope generators and two LFOs, all meticulously modeled from the hardware.

A comprehensive modulation matrix, two Step controls for powerful rhythmic sequences, and a high-quality effect chain greatly enhance the versatility of the instrument. Two parts with Single/Dual/Split modes offer plenty of extra room for experienced sound designers.

The individual voice control is perhaps the most important feature of Obsession: Each voice board can differ noticeably from the others in many ways, creating that organic, lively sound that vintage-analog poly synths are famous for.

The back panel of Obsession gives access to the high-quality effects section, the modulation matrix, as well as the CV connections and audio inputs+outputs. The high-quality reverb coded by Mirko Ruta with the added Shimmer effect lifts pads, leads and athmospheric to a new dimension. A stereo delay as well as a Chorus/Ensemble effect can be applied to enhance the output yet further. Temperature-dependent fluctuations can be simulated by the novel “Organic” knob, lifting the expressiveness and sound quality to a new level.

Obsession comes with a massive library of more than 400 patches, crafted by leading sound designers.

It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

Not a vst plugin. It works in Reason & Reason rack extension only. You can load reason rack extension in any other DAW and use this.

Yep, I already realised that, but didn't want to write again.

Yeah I also got excited for a second, then I saw it requires Reason Rack Extension to be able to run on another DAW.

just an extra 5Gb to install (for Reason), and then you can run as usual in your favourite DAW with Reason Rack plugin. No extra latency or CPU whatsover because Reason got some low latency thingy running inside it. I didn't use Reason standalone as much, but the plugin version is awesome, now it is more with Obsession. Plus tons of RE are coming our way soon I believe.

I checked and yes, unlike many other releases (waves, arturia etc), this extra 5gb space is justified.

So, as far as i understand, before I use any of these extensions, I first need to install

- R2R Waifu
- R2R Reason
- R2R Reason Cache Builder

...and then the extensions like Obsession etc. ?
And after that Reason and its plugins are supposed to show up as VST version within my DAW (like Ableton)?

I think its too much hassle for me (someone who does not want to use standalone reason).

Anyways...R2R are the undisputed champions of the scene.
They put so much love and work in their releases, its unbelievable.

I'm guessing not, but would this mess with my legit version of Synapse Legend? Enquiring minds wish to know...

R2R, thanks sooo much. DECIBELLE, thank you too!

It should be fine. You don't (can't stress enough: DON'T) install any of this in your vst plugins folder. There are 2 places you install the "vsts" (rack extensions NOT vsts). It's a pain, but you have to "load" them through the rack extension vst3.

Anyway, thanks R2R & DECi <3
Thx to anybody posting Spitfire / OTB libs!

OK very serious question. Can I use this extensions with a legit version in any way or I must have the R2R verson installed. I am user with leagal copy but would love to use those rack extensions. I am dissapointed with new version and lack of features so I am not planing to upgrade to 12 leagaly.
Im not even angruy they manage to crack this , it was long way coming with the last few years of decisions in the company / new subscription model and not listening to customers .
Cheers!

I copied the files to the appropriate folders, started RECacheBuilder ... everything went fine, but when I run Reason 12 it asks me for a username and password for additional rack extensions, is it normal for me to be asked to login ???

Rack Extension Installtion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Confirm you are already installed Reason release by R2R.

Copy any RackExtension folders to
"%APPDATA%\Propellerhead Software\RackExtensions\"

Copy *.R2RRECACHE file to
"%APPDATA%\Propellerhead Software\R2RRECACHE\"

After you add new RackExtension(s), you need to rebuild the cache.
If the music is too loud... well, you are too old.
