I wonder if this is just a player for their purchased libraries or you can load your own samples and loops. Well, I guess I'm going to have to try it out in a VM. If I can't load my loops then I'll find it rather useless. It looks really nice, though. I'm still using Recycle... this would make my workflow much faster.

From FAQ..
Load Your Own Samples
Drag and drop any WAV or AIFF file into the plugin and use the power of Momentum to create something new.

Offline Use

To begin using Momentum, you must have an internet connection to log in to your account. You also need an internet connection to purchase and download sounds from Big Fish Audio. Once you've logged in, you can take your computer offline and have access to all editing tools; only the purchasing and downloading features will become unavailable.

Serato Sample is much better for slicing up samples IMHO. It even detects the key and you can pitch to any key without too obvious artefacts. This way you can easily work with samples of different keys and make great sample collages. I watched a demo of Momentum and it seems like an unintuitive hog, not good for straightforward workflows.

Logic users already have Quicksampler, which is almost as good as Serato Sample (minus the key detection feature) and Ableton users have Simpler, which is also quite powerful. The latest version of Cubase Sampler Track has also evolved quite well.

I'm not sure I'd trust it, I noticed a while back that my installed 1.1 was flagging as a ransomware installer by every antivirus on virustotal, and while I can dismiss that kind of thing as a false positive from cracked stuff, for the official sourced plugin it makes me worry.

I note that 1.2's installer still flags as ransomware for several engines.

Again, it's *possible* that it's a false positive, but given bigfish's ineptitude at making a decent sampler, it's also possible that they've been infected by ransomware and are distributing something with a timebomb date in the future.

Not worth the risk for such a mediocre plugin, IMO.

"No security vendors flagged this file as malicious."
This is the result of the scan in Virustotal. Excuse me but you are talking a lot of crap. And you're doing it using a terrorist approach, in my opinion. The file you download from the original site is clean as a whistle, it did not give me any positive results. Also you are comparing it with Serato Sample and that is wrong too. They are two different softwares, conceived and designed differently. Momentum may not have the quality of TM like Pitch'n Time, (I did not make a comparison) but it is much more than a slices sample editor. It's a multisamples glitch machine with single slice setting capability. In short it has a lot of possibilities that are not offered even by paid software, and all at the cost of a free donwload. And you have judged it a mediocre plugin and established that BigFish has an ineptitude to build a decent sampler. Sounds like big words to me, especially when they are dispensed with the view of a fast consumer.

Perhaps, for the community, it would be better if you offered to list the pros and cons of a release, objectively, say whether it works well or not, and so on. Judgments are always subjective, so let's leave them to AudioZ users, without conditioning them too much by throwing random crap.
Thanx

That's from a freshly downloaded 1.2 from their site.

Also, I said nothing about Serato Sample, that was someone else, learn to read.

I apologize for mixing up your comment with the previous one. Anyway, the point was that you have expressed two personal judgments that you could have avoided (mediocre plugin and that BigFish has an ineptitude to build a decent sampler). Just take it as a suggestion. Anyway, don't worry, it's not the end of the world. I would also like to show you that I have scanned with VirusTotal both the mac and pc versions and both give me a negative result. At this point I should think that the problem lies in your browser. Try to do the same scan using another browser, it might give you a different result.

doesn't recycle already do this and rex files are compatible with so much these days...?

I still use good old recycle, but this can export WAVs, not just REX files. Recycle is also quite old, which doesn't mean it's unusable, of course. On the contrary, it's still great.

A crack of this (so it recognizes ill-gotten BFA sample libraries) would be freaking amazing
