I just tried it and... I don't know, guys. It might sound smooth and all, being a 1:1 code port of a digital hardware, but its GUI looks like a stock Reaper plugin: no scaling option, not able to type in values manually, mid-side option is very clumsy, etc.
And we're talking 500$ here!
I tried it against SSL X-EQ 2 on a master bus doing some minor EQ work and 3 times out of 3 I got better sounding results using X-EQ 2, I think mainly because EQ1 is just not user-friendly.

Thanks R2R for releasing a proper version without this dreadful iLok.

The prices are so high because they were able to select their prices as they wanted because only customers with money were able to try them. I mean who wants to try something for free that reqires you to buy an iLok dongle first?

What I want to say:
They're not worth their price tags and I really thank R2R to make it possible to everyone to try it freely.

I have almost null out a bell of this with nothing but ReaFIR (reaper swiss knife stock plug) - 65 db almost inaudible. With some dexterity to the mouse pointer i think can make it quiet. What does that say ? keep the placebo firing. But yeah, good achievement for R2R

Yeah, I don't see why this is so expensive apart from the name. It seems this is identical to a piece of old digital mastering equipment. Is something like DMG EQuality, Pro-Q or even stock EQ that much different? Apparently this isn't doing any analog modeling, it's just a clean digital EQ. We already have plenty of those since computers have become very powerful. Forgive me if I'm missing something, it just doesn't make sense. Same with those MAAT ones based on old digital algos. What about them is superior?

Doing some research, people say the EQ1 is outstanding. Confusing.

ah, interesting. I've been reading the hardware's manual before the plugin comes and I'm having fun now. Unpopular opinion though.. that Algorithmix's knock-off overpriced EQ is a little better at doing crazy cut. It's too early to tell but this one (Weiss) doesn't "feel" cheap at all. So precise. I'm testing on crazy loud master though, an old friend of mine told me anything that has "mastering" written on it is optimized for high RMS operation and EQs like this aren't meant for boosting. I'm still learning. Good luck!

Edit : I think it is all about the EQ curves, the Maselec and Manley curves on the MAAT are damn good IMHO. Another thing, make sure it's at 96kHz!
