I think he talks about Ozone's V9 master rebalance.... But it is not for separating stems on to drums, bass, vocals separate files, but only for remixing them (add vocals or make quieter drums etc...)

molokosos thats the only thing i could honestly think of myself that would even come close and like you so eloquently put.. it's a mastering feature not a tool that splits tracks into stems by instrument..

... except that those " splits tracks " are the more often horrible sounding " stems ", and not by instruments. It's a " little tool " as Akrit wrote above, with horrible phase effects, drops and bad EQ shaping, unclear separation and no separation at all in the worst cases ( unfortunately ). We're far away from the pristine level of details asked for mastering, with no overlapping or frequency fights, along others. I checked tens of examples.

A fun tool to work on the 3752 version of the transcript of the " Beat It " solo , or for Armin Van Buuren's remixes, who doesn't care anyway, he has access to the real, original stems.
Don't be fooled by the promo demos, you'll be disappointed 97,49 % of the times + TAX. Now, in the 2,51 % of cases when it works, it may be intriguing.

That Spleeter thingy is pretty impressive ...to me it´s better than izotope Rebalance, which i considered already crazy,,,all in all a good piece of software. Acon Digital is solid stuff..

DAW I agree wiith what your saying 100%, and since its so easy to make stems of your own music yourself on almost any DAW.. I have no use for something like this to begin with but was interested in seeing what all the hoopla was about..

@ ADA Harris : I follow your POV 100% .

As we know, " stems " are nothing else that sub-groups / sub-mix busses renders / prints ( in the ITB world, that's easy to setup ). But times have changed and even the mastering engineers need money, so they'll accept ( have to accept ) stems despite the fact that it's originally not their job to mix them. That decision is normally to the mixing engineer - confused in some situation, so delegating ( English OK ? ) an ensemble of " sub-groups " decisions in the mix about compression, EQ, and of course level,... to the final mastering stage.

Now we can get the so called stems to do anything else, cutting, gluing, upspeeding, as the (in)-famous techno / trance / club remixes and mashups, but that's another story.
That can be interesting - and FUN ! => :

For Mac users. To use Spleeter, you must activate Remix from the Tools Menu from within the application.
The first time you do so, the app launches the automatic download of Spleeter, upon completion of which it will install so the Remix entry (Spleeter) will always be available. Obviously to do this you need to be online and with the program open and not blocked by LittleSnitch. If instead you don't want to connect to the network, for obvious reasons, for convenience you can download the off-line installer I extracted from the server, here:

Does anyone know where to download the manual installer for the Remix/Spleeter extension for Acoustica Windows version? I would feel safer having it on my disk and not be dependent on installing it over the net.

Really surprising about this soft.
but you need spleeter to can use the multiformat separation and it´s about 600mb extra and apart download.
