Hive: lightweight synth, heavyweight sound. Sleek, streamlined and super fast. Hive was built for speed. An effortless workflow, low cpu use and a single page interface means you can build your tracks in no time. Being ‘fast and simple’ does not mean sacrificing sound quality or creative control. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Release by VR timebombs. VR tried to force-validate serial by old routine by
patching but it doesn't really help. We checked their Hive2 release and we
found zero timebombs are patched. Now you know that users who posts "100
percent working" for their releases are zero percent trustful.

At least we checked many places they haven't noticed.
Let's hope we made 100 percent again this time :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is how U-he main protection works:

1. Generate value (0 - 2047) from the licensee name.
We call this value "UserValue".
2. Get the hash of serial number by UrsHash.
UrsHash is combination of WHIRLPOOL512 and SHA512)
3. Get hardcodedHash[UserValue] and compare with calculated hash.
If it matches, license = OK.

This means, serial number is not generated for users dynamically. The hash
of all serial numbers are hardcoded to the app since the first release. User
name is just used to determine which correct serial number to assign. This
is good if dev has many customers, otherwise serial check will be dull and
slow (check all hardcoded serials one by one, this is done by RobPapen).

However, there is the weak point in this "wise" protection. Once legit serial
numbers are leaked, that serial number can be used to other name. You can
make another licensee for that serial by colliding "UserValue". This is not
easy to avoid. Blacklisting the leaked serial number can affect to the legit
users too, because that user may have same UserValue with leaked licensee.

In short:
- Uhe app contains 2048 correct hashed serial numbers.
- Calculate valid serial from hashed serial is nearly impossible.
- User A and User B may have same legit serial number.
-> Generate another valid name for leaked serial can be possible.

Enjoy checking many security aspects for the uhe type protection.
These UserValue+Hash protection is used by Arturia, Audiority, SonicAcademy,
LVC-Audio, Youlean etc. Valid user+serial pair can be made from legit serial.

Thank you so much and happy new year!

R2R is V.R. and V.R. is R2R. Before you disagree, I have been hacking shit since an 8 year old on C64 on Q-Link and TI-99/4A. I think you should combine into one group. (I am not implying I can do what you all do as teams.)

You all rock.

It's asking for key now and running in demo. I am sure it's because I was lazy (others, you!, don't be lazy hahah) and just installed. Info for others, and I will look into it too. Any ideas? (I am bombed myself hahahhah.) Thanks again! I gotta go use the facilities, to say it kindly... hahhahaha. \m/

hahahahaha In Cubase 5 x86, VST3, it tells me I still have pre-2009 serial number and to contact them. I am firewalled of course. lulz

... and then when I look again, it is registered! Didn't even remove it from insert. But Cubase 10.5 still "demo."

VST2 has no such thing and just went medicine.

So, my laziness it seems, as I said but not entirely sure yet. But none of my post implies against R2R. I KNOW it is my fault. More liquor, puhlease. :) Just helping others avoid it.

It is making random crackles as I sit here!!!! lulz :)

Also, old data folders in different locations. Best to completely uninstall old first , for all new.

Yeah, VST2 is working fine for me, VST3 just shows a demo panel and invites me to register. But I've still got the VR group release installed and in my experience R2R and VR releases rarely play nicely together.

The registration name on the VST2 is the same as the name on all the VR VST's. I've no idea what that means, if anything.

Edit: Yeah, uninstalling VR and reinstalling the R2R version fixed it.

Reporting back that all is perfect (not tested over time, just initial setup) after wipe of u-he and installing all. I made no install for myself of Bazille and Filterscape to round it out, from another machine. All good. Thanks once again, so much. Much respect.

To others, based on info in installers, it is probably easiest/simplest/best to install only the VST2 and AAX if you need, no VST3. Read the stuff before installing if you aren't sure - VST3s don't work perfectly, as u-he even says themselves.

Damn, no matter what i do, i keep on getting the registration page / demo...

I uninstalled the ealier VR release, then went through file system and removed all things u-he and diva. Couldn't find anything in registry... and installing only VST2 makes no difference. I've pored over the R2R release notes about 20 times now, trying to glean what it is that i'm missing... damn it, if anyone can help please PM me, 'cos the mystery of it all is driving me plain crazy!

I see you asking for help and there is not much to say. Wipe your system of u-he and start from scratch. The registry doesn't seem to be important and I didn't give it attention to make things well here. Clean everywhere with respect to the file system involving u-he. Remember there is x86 and "normal" x64 Program Files folders - Common Files, ProgramData, user data folder local and roaming, Documents folders, VST2 folders - can't hurt to check your public folders too - who knows what you or installers did in the past, you dig? Ccleaner is awesome too and I recommend that. I have it pimped to the extreme. For years, every time I see a file I don't want, I make settings in it to delete - so I have it customized and it rids every tiny bullish I don't ever want. I even use * as in *.txt (or whatever is appropriate) and like that to clean folders, and this way as well.

If you begin to use Ccleaner as I do, always run the "Analyze" button first and look over what it did to see if you made a good setting or not. THEN, you can "Run Cleaner" bottom right. This is in general. I am not saying to clean u-he like this.

When you are cleaning the VST2 and 3 folders, both architectures x86 and x86-64, look also for names of the plugins like Diva, etc... in addition to the u-he folders themselves. Old versions installed outside of u-he folder and they need to be removed too. heh https://i.ibb.co/zXTLhgD/Capture.jpg

Whilst I am always thankful to ALL teams who post new and updated software for us to try, I never understand the overwhelming need to risk losing everything just to have the latest updates. For me? If I have a working copy of something (Especially u-He) there is NO way I would risk losing the lot.

This mentality is arrived at only through misunderstanding the value gained towards system stability. In other words. no a plug in by itself is not going to bring a system down but it surely can to a DAW. Extending this thinking towards all else, and it is clear how latest and greatest is the way to go. if you want to be entirely safe about even this approach, it is good to let more knowledgeable people test first, whether it be something official or not. For instance, like a Windows KB update. Security itself is also raised through these means. For instance, with a slightly older version of Winrar, it can be made to take over your entire system. Maybe your e-mail client is not updated. Maybe it can let that e-mail hack your machine. Hope it is clear now, and then there are new features often, too.

There are still machines online pre XP SP1 that allow null shares. This means that no password is set or even required to connect to them and own them yourself. A child can scan for them and find them. In fact, they do. They're called "script kiddies."

Do not pay attention to the risk saying "low." Extreme-off-the-charts-highest-possible-there-can-be is more accurate.
