but how is this based on a 4-track cassette deck? ...and not just a typical tape deck?
There's no speed choice, nor pitch, no channel bleed which happens with poor head alignment. No channels 3+4 going in reverse when a normal cassette is played. No TDK SA-X model? Which is the best for Tascam.
I haven't tried it, but can't figure out why they'd say it's inspired by 4-track recorders? It seems just a regular home cassette deck emulator.

Cassette deck with standard speed. Usually, in most cases cassette decks have one speed. Some have extra speed like twice faster or twice slower - i have seen these on some consumer and semi-pro decks. But usually one standard speed.

Not "usually one standard speed", no. The 4 tracks had a pitch slider, which meant you could record a take at a slower speed and then pitch it back to the centre, for instance. And you could get any speed inbetween +/- the maximum; probably more than 2x, as you said. And not only 2x faster OR 2x slower, as you said.
The Clavichord is from the Late Middle Ages. It's not a Clavinet.

Bought this when it came out. Great price and no BS licensing/restrictive DRM = green light from me. There's some minor bugs which they still haven't worked out, but I'll let it pass since otherwise this is the best cassette-type plugin I've played with. Others are maybe in the ballpark, but just don't quite pull it off. I like the range on this too (can be used for adding very subtle non-linearities or saturation, or full-blown melted cassette tape that was left in the car in 120 degree weather).

Thats exactly why I bought it. For the range of utility it get. I used a lot the Lo-Fi plugin by Goodherts, I think its called Wow Control but its 6 time the cost. Definitely more versatile but for what I'll use it for, It seems that it'll do just fine with SketchCassette. Hopefully, it'll randomise per track and not sync as a loop ( wow and flutter ). That would be super awkard.

Not as announcement, but developers already have a lot of work to fix many bugs and crashes people noticed (in some hosts in some OSes, preset recalling problem in reaper, other non-stabities to be fixed etc.), GUI improvements, framework update, as well as some new requested features. They mentioned this as not V2, but as future update. Maybe 1.1.0 or 1.5.0 or 2.0.0, don't know, people already speak about huge 2.0 updates.
But this discussions were on July 2019. So i think there will be update soon.

To use it as a VST, Simply Rename The .VST3 Extension To .DLL
SketchCassette.vst3 >>> SketchCassette.dll

I'll have to try this out and see if it beats out Klevgrand's DAWCassette, which is a pretty solid plugin (the only complaint with DAWCassette is that it's hard to set it to very low/mellow setting--not everyone wants everything cranked to eleven. )

Just bought this one today. I havent tried it yet. at 20$ , it seemed quite fair for an FX plugin. Happy I contributed and hope more will enjoy it. I know what I'll do with it.

The hoise reduction compression sounded quite cool in the demo, Hopefuly itll translate here.
