Glad to see this posted here, even if I'm not going to use it.
People who like the Ableton live workflow might like this :)
As always, thank you R2R and thank you funtime too.

Digital performer is waaay older Daw than Live is and the new clip window is the only thing that reminds it of Live nothing else
Although i havent used Live since version 8 (I never bonded with it so i went back to Cubase and Reper and now i only use Repaer and sometimes Samplitude)
And to this day i still see users having trouble to get 3 party plugin to work in live.
WOW Ableton really dont care for users who wants to use 3 party plugins thats for sure.

really curious to see, since they're obvs copying abes, how they've done this better than ableton - hopefully they at least have the common daw features that ableton 10 stupidly doesn't have (i.e. freeze frees up ram, clip midi cc automateable on timeline in arrangement view, etc)
make music, not walls.

The sequencer stuff has been way before Ableton, it just happened that Ableton adapted it pretty good and any major DAW was doing it. This DAW is widely used in the scoring side also.

Thank you R2R, love you guys

It's possible that this software adds a feature that was always missing in Ableton, that is to be able to launch the clips without time conditions or restrictions. This is something big and very musical. I never understood why Ableton did not implement it. Anyway, this feature is in Renoise 3.1 and it's great.
Thanks funtime for this contribution. It is very interesting.

For Mac, also excellent DP has been installed.

Haven't even thought about going back oDP since I left in V6... I wonder how much it's improved. I'm an Ableton guy now but I see people saying its similar...

People might not like digital performer. ..
... but there's a vst instrument, MX4, that, alone, is worth installing the whole package.
Just saying.

I'm a legit and dedicated DP user for over 15 years. On Mac.

The new features are pretty much like combination of Logic and Ableton!
Plus the great endless Midi and audio features of DP!

Wow,
People often rave about the 'infinite' midi options available in cubase. As a selling argument, one will always tell us '..cubase has the most advanced midi features of all daws'...

How would you compare cubase and dp (10), on the midi side ?
thanks

Better than Cubase, PT or Logic. If you work on video at all, it has the best setup for video scoring available. The audio side needs a bit of work ... but I haven't used v10 yet, so maybe they've cracked it.

How's the audio engine on this DAW? No fighting.

Can't speak for Windoze, but I've been using it for about 19 years on the Mac. The MAS engine's not bad, and they've really come a long way with it, but I don't like it for audio editing. I usually mix with a mouse, and the mixing and routing are pretty good on it. The MIDI and video scoring are incredible. I ultimately use DP as a sequencer and do my audio work in PT, but if you can live with the iffy editing tools (it uses sub-files that clutter your drive instead of non-destructive markers, there's no longer any way to run tracks in real time only, etc.), you can do a decent mix.

Did you try to change the audio driver ? each time i try to change the audio driver from windows to fl studio asio, the daw crash and close !
So now i can't change it !

EDIT: asio4all is working but fl studio asio not working

I assume you can just take the keygen from this and use it with the Mac version, like previous releases?

(Edit: so far, you apparently can, although I had to unblock auth.motu.XXX and the domain in general -- just like the previous versions! -- until it went through the authorization process. It doesn't seem like any patching is involved, just the keygen)

after watching all the youtube videos i can say this will knock ableton live from the throne

edit : same old rubbish. :-(

I dunno...the instruments/features, the sheer volume of content, and momentum in general are probably going to keep Live at/near the top. Though it would be nice if DP gives Live enough competition for the folks at Ableton to finally start listening to their users and implementing the features that it should have had by now.

Ableton is known for it's simpliciy, fast workflow and minimalist approach. If you want more features, Bitwig is better investment. I gave DP10 a quick try and I remember how easy it was for me when I tried Ableton Live 8 for the first time.

nahhh DPv9 was horrible unstable, even more than ableton v9 was. plus ableton has far better stock fx-plugins.
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

After more than 15 years of using DP on Mac, I can sure say, now with all the new features,
it sure is a great combinations of 2-3 of well known DAWS in one!

It is amazingly deep and has tons of features. I know many Pro Tools guys that switched to DP.
