Bark of Dog 2 is a new and improved version of the plugin that started it all. Now with 3 different modes, it’s even better than before.

When 2 dogs love each other…

more dogs just seem to come out of nowhere. And that’s what Bark of Dog 2 is. Now with 2 different modes (and a “combo” mode) you have more options on ways to clean up your low end. Classic mode continues the legacy of version 1. The original Bark of Dog became a staple plugin in studios around the world for a good reason. It’s easy to use and it works. In version 2, you get the same controls, but they are a little more intuitive.
New Passive Mode

The passive mode is almost the complete opposite from Classic mode. In fact, it is designed to work like a the simultaneous boost and attenuation of a famous passive EQ. Essentially, it lets you boost your low end without getting muddy. It’s an awesome trick, and Bark of Dog 2 makes it so you can do it with one simple knob turn.
Combo Mode

This third mode is actually just the first two modes put together. Really what it does is lets you boost the low end like you would in passive mode, but cuts out some of the super low stuff so you don’t blow your speakers. It basically lets you push it harder than you would normally be able to. I thought it was a nice touch, so I put it in.

Oh, man! Thanks! I spent a bunch of time trying to get my original (cracked) Boz Digital username changed (on my rig itself) in order to make it the same as the real deal username, in order to get this to work along with everything else. Editing the registry username didn't work, uninstalling everything and starting over didn't work. It was truly a bitch trying to get this to work.

I had the same problem, LOL. I thought that I had gotten rid of all traces of older plugins that I had tried out, but I still couldn't work it out. Even through I bought it I will still use this version.

Yeah, it seems like they really want you to stick to your first username. It's pretty odd. I don't know what I was missing, but I couldn't find anything in the registry that would remind my rig of my original username. I eventually just gave up, knowing that R2R knew about the pickiness of the username thing and hoping, half expecting, them to come out with a crack.

Truly, I wish that Boz didn't put protection on this, since it's going to continue to be free, to my knowledge. I suppose they just wanted those emails and users for their mailing list. Fair enough. They have some useful free stuff and some stuff worth buying. I can think of worse mailing lists to be on.

Actually, this is timely. I never have problems installing anything, but I'm having a bitch of time trying to install Boz's stuff. The only plugin of theirs works for me is the CE of the +10db Channel Strip; all of the others refuse to acknowledge the *only two names I have used* which are my name (well, my "name," for pyrated stuff,) or "TEAM R2R," at install.
So, I have uninstalled everything (the CE +10dbCS included,) deleted everything in the x86 & x64 files and junked the Program Data folder, tried it again and neither name works....what the Hell am I missing? (Also, I'm not online; unsure if that matters.)
Any help would be nice.

The way the protection works is- It takes your first username you ever used on the system, and it's gung ho about you keeping that username only. Two usernames is impossible. Try that out. If you own some plugins under a different username, I'm sorry- But I guess you're reliant on R2R or their keygen for updates. That's the boat I am in, to a degree.

Here's how you can find the username your system expects you to have- Open the registry editor (Google how to do that for your edition of Windows, but if it's windows 10, you should just be able to search for "regedit" when you click the start menu) and navigate your way to..

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Boz Digital Labs

One of the registry entries will be called "username", and you can just read what it is right there, under data, or by double clicking on it. I have tried changing this username and the plugins really don't want to play ball.

From here, now that you know the username your system expects, use that username with the keygen.

Yeah, I actually hadn't thought of that, so I went into the registry and checked it out. In the Username areas it just said "(default)" and "username." for shits & giggles I tried both of those and neither worked, obviously, and so I tried adding a username (or, changing it, I guess, since I did have a username before....even though neither of the two that I have tried are now listed in the registry,) and, as you mentioned, it won't allow you to change it. I am running Win7Ult.64...not that that should matter, but....whatever. I'm admittedly confused after checking the registry and out of ideas, so, it looks like I won't be using Boz unless it is a CE version.
Thanks for your help, anyway, R4pToR.

Yeah, no problem- There is something very odd about the relationship between username and each individual plugin when it comes to Boz Digital plugins. As I said initially, I tried changing my cracks to my real username multiple times, taking measures beyond the average user but not at dev/reverse engineer level, and none of the plugins would accept a change in username. It's like there is somewhere, other than the registry & appdata & programdata that reminds each plugin of it's initial username. Then comes the problem of, if you used two different usernames, only one set will work at a time. Whatever username is the latest will just change the username on your other Boz plugins, thus making the key invalid. It's a really confusing situation. Honestly, the only plugin that I have been able to change it's initial username on is Bark of Dog 2. I don't know why it was so accepting and the others were not, despite full uninstalls and removing all traces of the plugins from the registry. Luckily, I had everything else on the same username, and since Bark of Dog 2 was able to change, I'm good.

Good luck finding a fix.

FInally got it working. Here is what I did.. go to that registry entry, and add a username if one doesnt exist at the "Default" line. Once you do that, load the plugin up and enter that name in, then open the keygen. Enter that same name into the keygen and generate a serial. Copy that serial to the "Registration" line in the registy, then copy that same serial to the "Serial Number" section on the plugin and hit the register button. Has to be done in that order. The keygened serial must be in the registry under "registration" BEFORE you enter it into the plugin.

EDIT_ even easier, dont use the plugin at all to register, just use the keygen and fill in the blanks in the registry. You username goes in the (Default) registry section, and the serial goes in the "Registration" section. Bam.

Excuse my ignorance, but is Bark Of Dog similar to Waves MaxxBass?

As I remember it emulates 3 filters

No. MaxxBass adds artificial harmonics. Bark of Dog does not, and in all honesty, can be cancelled out completely by the strong strong majority of stock EQ's out there. The only exception would be if your stock EQ has something going on under the hood to make it sound like it's not digital. Even then, it'll cancel out pretty well.

Bark of Dog was essentially created because there was (and still is) an expensive UAD-2 plugin, Little Labs' Voice of God, which insultingly does the same thing- Cancels out with your stock EQ- yet is sold for a ridiculous price. Still, the plugin is useful for it's job, when you don't need the rest of the EQ at all, so Boz Digital offers the same plugin for free and awesomely called it "Bark of Dog", as an FU to Little Labs' "Voice of God".

And BTW- Now that Bark of Dog has a passive and combo mode, it's offers more than Little Labs' Voice of God. Bark of Dog is free. Voice of God is 150 dollars, and you need an underpowered, neolithic add-on card to run it. (Not that other UAD-2 plugins are not good)

My Question To Why Does it Need a Keygen if it is Free ?
  Member 28.11.2016 913

probably because you still have to register it with an email and get a code to make it free (to get you on the mailing list!). So still needs registering.

If you see that team crack free plugin, it means something wrong with freebie.

Follow these steps:

1. After installation you open the plug in for registration

2. when you open you can see that registration window is automatically open, and you see that your name is already there

3. Copy the name from the plug in registration window from your DAW to Keygen

4. Generate it and copy serial than paste it on the registration window back in your DAW

5. Enjoy

i hope that work, cause it is working on mine

That seems like it would work, but it won't becausr I've never registered with my name/PC's name before. I have always used a moniker (even on their site,) or R2R's name. The moniker was the first one that I used, but neither won't work on Gatey Watey, Transgressor or Bark now. I am wondering if the Boz no-keygen/CE plugin that I installed may have fouled something up....
Thanks for the input, though....

Tested, the trick is there and works, but nothin better than waves softube or uad with much more control
My sudo is dead

It's a textbook digital resonant highpass filter. It will cancel with any mathematically correct digital EQ there is, and every DAW has one. That's for the original, now "classic" mode. The passive mode is the same deal. The combo mode is a bit unique, I guess, but nothing undoable with objective, "reference" level EQ's.

In other words, if Waves, Softube, and/or UAD did the same thing, the plugins would cancel out. They'd be the same exact plugin. Any extra level of control would certainly be a trivial one, too.

In fact, this plugin was initially made as a copy of a UAD-2 plugin by Little Labs- Voice of God. Why? Because they stupidly sell it for $150, yet it cancels out with your stock EQ. Not only that, but you need the add-on card to run it, of course. That's the exact reason Boz offers this free- It's insulting that UAD tried to pass off Voice of God as something special and sell it for a bunch of money when it's just a small fraction of your stock EQ and can be coded very quickly by an experienced dev.

Reading your quote and what eXACT went thru I find this Plug in by Box is the king of IRONY.

Their final act of awesomeness : After we implement UAD expensive $150 technology
in our Plugin for free, We Reverse Again!!! We gonna put a code that's fucking uncrackable even for the mighty R2R and place it in this free Plugin!

Hahaha bravo. Just realized that. This is deserving the title: Bite of Dog!

Your expensive Plugin means nothing to us. And your best cracking team open software worth up to a thousand... Let's stop em in a free Plugin... With a username!
