The VCL-373 is a recreation of an early 60s broadcasting limiter/compressor that eventually found its way into many mastering studios. 1963 marks a technological shift in that the famous diode-bridge based gain reduction stage was replaced by a transistor-based circuit that allowed for less THD and more reliable control voltage tracking.

The plugin includes a faithful emulation of the audio transformers, the crucial feedback compression circuitry as well as the discrete class A make-up amplifier. Some convenient features including a continuous drive control, gain compensation, GR metering and a dry/wet mix have been added in the digital domain.

This one is a keeper. Pretty dang sweet. The saturation is very analogue sounding, and testing on percussion does beautiful things to the signal. $23? A no brainer.

it really does do a great job of holding things in place in limiter mode without killing the top end... tightens up the low end in a good way>>> pretty sweet on an Acoustic jam im working on i was pleased at what it does... ill have to try it on a heavy piece of music aswell ;)

After throwing this around in some mixes and hearing what it can do, it gets Two Thumbs-Up, or an A+....or Four Stars........or Five? I don't know what ranking system you people have agreed upon. Anyway, it sounds great, is reasonably priced and is a very nice addition to my arsenal of digital gear used to make shit sound less digital. Irony abounds....
