Unlike mainstream modeling methods based on the characteristics of a certain “state” of the circuitry, which just “comes close” to the modeled sound, VStomp Amp employs a complex system based on dynamic feature modeling. In this matrix, every single circuit component is ALIVE and performs like its original. Behind VStomp Amp is Hotone’s CDCM (Comprehensive Dynamic Circuit Modeling) system. CDCM is built on an extremely complex dynamic variation matrix, able to realistically express every detailed change that occurs during the operational process of actual circuitry. This matrix will adjust its own modeling parameters and even framework based on the instrument input signal range, signal frequency, knob position, the instrument’s own impedance, and other variable parameters, all to achieve the closest possible characteristics of actual modeled circuitry.

Works pretty well for high-gain sounds, but doesn't have stompboxes nor reverb. Worth the 50$ in my opinion if you do not have a better amp sim yet and you just want to easily mix some hard rock/metal songs.

Thanks for this! I put it though its paces. It certainly isn't a new step forward to my ears like they are advertising. They are way over hyping this thing! Get's a C grade from me for both sound quality and their graphics for it. No stomp boxes or rack mount effects included either. Just amps and cabs.

For me (imho) this is way better than any other guitar fx plugin out there. I suggest if you want to drive the sound a little bit more (and give it a little more "sustain") add the TSE 808 (which we all guitarists know is free). Turn the Cabinet off (they are nice nevertheless) and use Cabinet (audioease> Narrow mid to all wide>Bass all the way up> for lead add a little bit of its Reverb> Room is always great even for rythm>left cab and right cab are the best). This guitar fx finally gets it for BASS guitar, sounds near amazing. And best of all it barely uses any RAM (vs Amplitube RAM sucker). This guitar fx finally gives or doesn't take away the MEAT of your tone. Others sound kind thin, and some even add that annoying 1000hz or/and 4000hz (maybe I am wrong about the frequencies) that make my ears bleed (like usually all those EMG pickup guitars). On REAPER: VST2 works best as NATIVE ONLY (embedded GUI). Didn't install vst3 because other brands make vst3 crash my dear REAPER. Thanks Decibelle.

So, I just tried it and...I actually quite like it.
Sure, it's too dry...It wouldn't hurt if they added a couple of effects, mostly overdrive and reverb, to make it more playable out of the box.
However, it does indeed respond very well to playing dynamics. The clean amps are very nice, specially the Fenders, and the crunchy ones actually sound quite good for my taste as well...Most importantly, it doesn't have that icepick sound that a lot of ampsims do.
Even the hi gain amps sound pretty descent...And I'm usually very suspicious of even trying hi-gain amp sims. They end up hurting my ears, most of the times. I really liked the Engl one.
Give it a try, add some reverb to give it a sense of space, maybe replace its cabinets with the cab loader of your choice.
I believe this is a good product that, unfortunately, the developers didn't know how to wrap up correctly before marketing...Add a tunner, some basic effects and some killer presets and it's right there with most recent amp sims such as Helix...Man, it sounds and feels better than Amplitube once you tweak it, in my opinion.
My favorite one is still S-Gear, though...Bur for a v1, Hotone is very promising.

I don't think it needs anything else. There's Reaper: Chain Fx, and I use mainly GTune only for tuning. And Reaverb is one of the best CAb loaders, and readelay is great for lead. We don't need more of the same, if anything more of the same but better (and not slightly better). Again, I myself love this. But I guess it's not my job nor my intention to convince anyone that this product is great on its own. At the end of the day what is important is what you make using several things (fx, daw) and if it ends sounding great. It doesn't matter if you used stock plugins (or none) lol.
