Wolfgang Palm PPG WaveGenerator v1.0.1.3 Incl Keygen-R2R screenshot
TEAM R2R | 28.12.2016 | 5.18 MB
PPG WaveGenerator is the latest development from the inventor of wavetable synthesis, Wolfgang Palm. It is a next generation synthesizer, building on the heritage of the PPG Wave keyboards.

WaveGenerator comes with a multitude of wavetables. The sound material contains the typical sounds from the original PPG wave models, as well as many new sounds generated by versatile analysis tools and also hand edited waves. This plugin enables the user, to create his own wavetables in a playful way, and to hear the result immediately. Also you can construct the waves by adding harmonics very precise. Another way is to transform a picture into a wavetable. You can load bitmaps and directly hear the result as wavetable sweep. The waves are collected in a grid of 256 fields, to which the 3 oscillators of the synthesizer have arbitrary and independent access.

The Parameters of the synthesizer are divided into modules, which allows easy, yet powerful editing. It contains 3 oscillators with independent control of pitch and waveform. Each oscillator has its own glide, which gives a very dynamic sound. With a sophisticated routing system, the diverse modulation sources can be connected to all important control points. The complexity of WaveGenerator is comparable with a modular system.

Nope!
You can't have everything; where would you put it?

I know this one from ipad app, sounds analog and dirty if you like. and finally a synth instead of millions of efx plugs. very welcome this kind of stuff.Thanks.

I am a great admirer of the work of Wolfgang Palm, having used PLEX for many years for generating some superb timbral events. However, the hype, which has arrived even to Wikipedia, about his being the "father of digital synthesis" and the "inventor of wavetable synthesis" is incorrect. Digital Synthesis and wavetable synthesis began at Bell Laboratories in New Jersey in the late 1950's, with the work of Max Matthews who developed the MusicX series of digital audio synthesis languages. MUSIC4BF, a fortran based synthesis language that used wavetable synthesis, was perfected in the mid 1960's by Godfrey Winham and Hubert S. Howe in collaboration with Matthews at Princeton University, just down the pike from Bell Labs. These all existed when Palm was about 15 years old. Mathews' most well known program was Music5 that was the mainstay of IRCAM in the 1970's, and whose most accomplished practitioners included Jean-Claude Risset and John Chowning. The successor to MUSIC4BF, called MUSIC360 by Barry Vercoe, was a language that used the Matthews syntax but written largely in Assembler for the IBM 360 Mainframe rather than in a general purpose language like Fortran. It was the fastest synthesis program of its time. As many people know, Vercoe is the author of Music11 and finally of CSound. All of these are wavetable synthesis programs and most of them had their origins well before Palm began his own work. This is not to deny the importance of Palm's development and applications of this technique. He is not, contrary to his own website, the inventor neither of digital audio synthesis nor of wavetable synthesis.

Interesting info. I've not studied this to the degree you have, but I was aware that there had been stuff going on prior to Palme's efforts and that while he was an important figure in digital synthesis, wavetable in particular, his claims of inventing the field were somewhat overblown.

All of the stuff comes from the hyperindividualism of our society though. In reality, there are no major fields where a single mind is the originator of all progress, instead, it as the result of numerous people working in that field with similar ideas or concepts, a collective effort. If somebody claims to be the father of something they're normally talking from ego rather than historical fact.

I'm glad you find these kinds of things interesting. What you say about absolute fathers of things cultural, scientific, technological etc. is quite true....even Schoenberg had his immediate predecessors. I should like to add that it isn't necessary for me to study this history, I was there, it is all part of my personal memories....all of those folks mentioned in my mini-history are friends of mine, I myself was using Music4BF and Music360 back in those days. If you (or anybody who reads this) is interested in listening to what I submit is the first genuine masterpiece of computer music, I recommend the Lyric Variations for Violin & Computer by J.K. Randall, composed in 1965-66. In particular, the 5 variations for computer solo are, even today, stunning.
