Olymoon, is it workable to use this off of a thumb drive and be able to record, say, 4 tracks at the same time? Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks in advance. Great share.

I think so yes. Because it has exactly the same functions as the installable one. (If you have enough space on your thumb drive)

Yup, that's the way I use it. You can create a usb stick with this and some vsts, and it should work on any computer you put it into.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is the distinction/ difference between the portable version and a "non portable" version of a DAW?

Is this going to work just like a standard version of Ableton live?

Portable generally means that you can unpack it and run it directly. No need to run a setup, crack it, need stuff in the registry, etc etc.

It will run like your regular Ableton.

i opened ableton today and it is asking me to authorize . i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the non portable 9.5
tried running just the portable with and without ableton 9.5 installed, i still keep getting authorize your copy alert. any idea what i might be doing wrong?

ok got it working. cleaned up my registry. had about 5000+ entries from ableton and then blocked the exe in my firewall. working great ! hope this helps someone
