Best conversion software around, period.
It's been a couple years I'm using it now!
thanks for sharing it here so everybody can enjoy it
and hear the benefits that a great converter have on your audio
compared to the standard daw dithering/donwsampling algorithms
that are almost always crappy

But not better than free FinalCD, that has no distortions, steep filter (but it converts down to 44.1k only, supports sample-rates up to 96kHz, so it's the best one for CD-conversion mastering)! And Weiss is not better than Izotope RX3 (has some distortions, they are ultra quiet, steep filter). Weiss cuts highs too much. Try also for mac "Brick" version 1.1 or 1.2, not 1.0 (the best one for iOS only, Free). Also SoX converts good. Dithering I prefer iZotope MBIT+, PSP X-Dither, ToneBoosters TB_Dither (build noise-shaping as you want).
Compare your converters:

I'm sorry to not agree with this .

Precisely, as shown on the SRC site, Saracon is the top one as the curves proove it. There are no highs cut.
To my ears IMHO - but far not only mine in fact - it's also the best SRC around musically.

But I agree with you, FinalCD in a downsampling SRC only which comes close to it and is free .

Hm...so strange. But I see "aliasing" in the picture and high-cutting (passband, transition). Or it depends on settings of low-pass filter? or what? But what about RX3 (it cuts less, but has quiet distortions)?
Un4tunately, I can't test Saracon, I don't have mac. Windows only.
Brick 1.2 is better than Brick 1.0 as developer said. It's for Mac only=( can you test it? and say, what is beter? Saracon or Brick?
About ears etc. - musically-sound SRC, IMHO, that has ideal filter, no distortions at all, linear-phase. But I don't like linear-phase for its pre-ringing, it's not an analog-like feature.
And question: if ideal filter existed, was it really "ideal"?

I've some jobs to finish tonight, so please give me some time and I'll be back with some links about Saracon.

For now:
- The aliasing you see is a good thing here, as strange as it may seem at first ( took me some time "to get it" ! ).
- The r8brain Pro may look the perfect one, but, without that aliasing, it doesn't sound that good...
- I read you're on Windows. So, here, happy Easter :

html

- I have no relation in any way with Weiss Engineering !
- More later ...

PS: as I see you "there", I'll give you RDV on the Windows version page ;-)

In my view the best SRC software, although sadly this version no longer works in Mavericks

I'm sorry I know almost nothing among MACs .

- Would a "MAC PPC" help you ?
- I also read that you could use the Windows version with WINE : =>

@DAW - Mavericks is the latest OS for MAC. PPC is old stuff so it wouldn't help.

I am on a system where this release works. Thanks for sharing, done some testing and it seems to give good results, and the speed is really amazing.

@ thisis theend : thank you for the infos .

Would the WINE solution work for Mavericks ?

As written on the Windows page of it (copy/pasting) :

1° Good test proposal at 1:13 mn etc :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rG8hIMnzOqg

More "clinical" that only by ears: when you invert the phase of this result and align it with other SRCs in your DAW (I'm using Samplitude Pro X, it's easy to do "in there"), you'll be taken aback by how HUGE the difference is ( full bandwidth ).

2° Better :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lMKAEI8zWo

As he's serious, as we are: you can get the PCM 16/44.1 file on your computer from the link he gives:

Thanks for the added info, DAW. Interesting.
I'm gonna do some of that 44/48 back and forth testing and compare with a few other tools when I have some time to spare.

IDK if wine will work on Mavericks, can't test that myself.

First, thanks everyone who has chipped in with suggestions. Regarding Wine, I've certainly been able to run Windows apps this way in Mavericks, so this could well be a solution.

@ thisis theend - and everyone interested - :

I've just re-did one of those little comparison tests, with the substraction idea. So :

Track used : " 12. Je Te Dis Tout", from :
Mylène Farmer - Monkey Me - 2012

24 bit/96 kHz Blu-Ray Pure Audio

http://www.discogs.com/Mylene-Farmer-Monkey-Me/release/4588872
___________________________________________________

We get this, which represents fairly well the curve running similarly on the whole track :
http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/795918TESTAZ.png

Above : downsampling to 16/44.1 with Samplitude, POW-R 2. Resampling quality: Ultra high 2.

Below : downsampling to 16/44.1 with Saracon, POW-R 2.

The capture shows the difference/substraction of the resulting files (both tracks time aligned, sample for sample, one phase inverted).

Of course this doesn't show which one is the most "clear/clean/musical" but it demonstrates how much two SRCs can differ in result. Starts at -50dB (zoomed) !
Now, listening, the difference is obvious to which one is the best ( sorry MAGIX ... ).

For infos, this Blu-Ray Pure Audio was mastered at "La Villa" - for details about the gear used etc -:

( - how come he didn't tell you loved Mylène also ? / wink - )

NOTE : PCM files can be found using torrents.

On the first look, it seems so. But as soon as you hit the convert button it crashes.

Hey guys, thanks for the tip about using the WIN version with Wine
on Mavericks. Works without problems. That was the biggest draw
back I had after upgrading to Mavericks.

Now I don't have a single app left that doesn't work on Mavericks.

@ fakejoshua : let's hope you read this as so slmike confirms the WIN/Wine solution works .

Do you remember any details about the conversion with Wine?

I tried but I can't get it working. The installation went fine, but once I launch the actual program it crashes with not finding the "splash-screen". The logo you see at startup I suppose. The image file is in one of the folders btw. I hope someone can help me out. Maybe someone can post the converted folder? Everybody happy. :)

Hi, Long time lurker first time poster. I'm a thankful user of a Korg MR2000S DSD recorder for stereo recording, mixdown ...

I love to have and use the Saracon software far better than the Korg AudioGate that I have. I try several times to unrar the files via Keka but I have some error messages, I use Mac OSX 10.7.5. Even with the direct link that provide Kookaboo I have several archives and two of them crashes or are corrupted ... ?

- 1 of 3,6 Mb named : u-ws161.r00
- 1 of 5 Mb named : u-ws161.rar

With Keka I have error messages for this two archives. I hope I do everything well ? ... If you have some time, your help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks !
