Tonalis is a new concept in music software. It performs four part harmonisation in the common practise period style. Start by entering a melody using the piano keyboard. Press harmonise and the app will automatically generate alto, tenor, and bass parts. Progressions are optimised to minimise the movement of inner parts and so the bass line is in contrary motion to the melody. Tonalis uses techniques gleaned from various sources including the book β€œTheory of Harmony” by Arnold Schoenberg. Using this software, anyone can instantly produce original compositions. Choose from a selection of instruments and playback your compositions. Export the score as an image or a MIDI file.

can't wait to try this out.. and now where at it anyway.. cognitone synfire pro would be nice, it does (along with way more functions) the same as this app does, only it cost around €800 and ships with ilok2, so i guess we're never going to see it, well if this helps getting the job done i might buy synfire anyway :D

Tonalis uses techniques gleaned from various sources including the book β€œTheory of Harmony” by Arnold Schoenberg.

Such concepts comes from Traditional Harmony can't be attributed to Schoenberg and others, maybe Rameau did.

I don't know for what this poor software is helpful, it only work with whole notes, there is no quarter note or less. One of the beauty in music to avoid boring is the modulation, there is no tool for that.

Four part harmonisation is more than this. Original compositions you'll never get, cause the combinatory analysis about 12 numbers is not so big, so modulation was the best gap discovered. Is it because too many people are prosecuted by plagiary.
