I found information on the Net that if you don't use the specific microphone supplied with the software that the results are virtually useless.
It also talked about the behringer microphone and that it won't do the job properly.
Can anyone confirm this?
If this is the case the software alone is well... of no use!

i got the the original arc mic and the behringer mic, the responses are not the same. i find the behringer useless for arc. but now you can change your own eq curve after the calibration maybe this helps a little bit.

If I well understood some conclusions, this 'IK Multimedia ARC 2' application only functions properly with the provided 'Measurement Microphone' (legitimate version, of course !), thus no others 'Measurement Microphones' will be suitable for it...

In this case, you should then also buy a proper Recording Studio done
by 'IK Multimedia' !!!
Because I don't clearly see the advantage of using this software that will certainly give you results that will be (slightly) different than those obtained with others 'Measurement Microphones' for a same place (Recording Studio,... ), and some others of these 'Measurement Microphones' are pure references on the subject...
that's maybe not the case of this provided by 'IK Multimedia' !

i did the measurement with some schoeps omni, dunno if it's ok but it leads to a credible point : too much bass, as usual in small room...

just a thought : this arc thing should be a lead/hint (out of several) in knowing our room, i personnaly won't let the plug in when mixing...

For information, I have a Behringer EMC8000 and did tests with both the Behringer and the ARC microphone. It shows that the high frequencies are corrected differently from one mic to another but the bass correction is pretty much the same.

this is only for plugin collectors since its "virtually" useless :)

I never mix without ARC.

So, in one hand, this 'ARC 2' is completely useless (mainly because it needs its own 'Microphone Measurement') thus can be perceived as a bit 'crappy' application, but on the other hand : "It's a Great Plug-In"...
Maybe if you were less contradictory in your own assertions, things could be easier...

And you're right that I don't know anything about 'Frequencies', neither
the proper 'Characteristics' of a certain Microphone model,...
and by the way, you forgot to also talking about the 'Sound Pressure' and others similar 'external' parameters that are directly acting precisely on these characteristics...

Reason which each microphone sound differently ?

Personally, I never heard (or see) that a microphone (regardless of the model used) 'SOUND' !
It rather 'CAPTURES' the ambient 'Air Sound Pressure' that is floating around it, and it converts this 'Sound Pressure' in an 'electrical signal' that can then be processed afterward the way you like (or need)...
This same 'electric signal' is then used by 'Loudspeakers' to produce
the 'SOUND' that you can listen through them...

So, my 'conclusion' is (and not 'systematical criticism' this time !) :
'Loudspeakers', 'Studio Monitors', and even instruments as 'Guitars', 'Pianos',... really 'SOUND'...

I don't have absolutely anything against the fact that you want to argue with your professionalism and your certainly large experience, a contrario ! But then use 'professional terms' instead...

Finally, a last 'suggestion'. Try the following software with any desired 'Measurement Microphone' (not imposed by a particular manufacturer or another one !), and maybe you'll forget this 'ARC 2'. Moreover, it's totally FREE !

i tested the original version with the provided mic an the results were really good. i like the plug. i have a friend who has the mic. so this version is useful to me.

i have two OS on my macbookpro (10.5.8 & 10.6.8), i install first on SL and it's working, but not on leopard ,install & K without problem, Arc app is crahing on launch and AU plugs validation is failing (with DP7)
any ideas?
