Very ugly colorless interface, not well built up presets management and iLok-shit for such a small Synthesizer! Though it has some very fine sounds. Thanks!

You all know this is an emulation of a hardware synth from the 80s? It was the Elka Synthex. A very fine and big synth. The "basic" sound and color design is the same as the "real thing". The same reason for Arturia to make wood-like sides in the Minimoog V GUI. Perhaps you can discover the deepness of possibilities when you don't step through the presets only, but doing your own sounds. The XilsLab synths are extremely deep and versatile. If you want to make contemporary sounds with it just do it. If you need "old" sounds use the vintage presets. And, again, the interface is modeled after the original and lots of musicians liked it and still do.

Ok, you're right. But presets aren't always slick, not even with hardware synths. And it's much easier to get awesome sounds with a simple synth like the Moogs. Therefore a lot of people still love them (as I do!). Imo it's worth to get into complicated concepts like the XilsLab stuff (or Absynth). I get desperated sometimes when I'm looking for a certain sound with PolyKB, Xils 3 or NIs Absynth. On the other hand it's lot of fun...

The Elka Synthex is considered one of the best (if not THE best) PolySynths
ever made, maybe it's not so cooooool like you want,
but it made something in the music history
(I mean real music, not that so cooool (shitty) "music"
that rules billboards nowadays),
and this plug is almost without doubt the best emulation of it ATM...
But why I'm wasting time trying to explaining you this, how can you understand
if you call shit a synth (that's a machine, it does what you say it to do)...
Maybe the shit is a result of who can't use it, not the machine itself, don't ya think?

i need the pc version

I love this synth but not sure how to do the install properly. I think it was still in demo mode because knobs and sliders stopped working on it after a bit, like the demo I installed the night before. Any help would be appreciated.
My access virus is basically becoming a controller because of XILS. Still In love with the poly kb!

Anyway i would never buy something with iLok, Synchrosoft or e-License garbage! If a producer does not trust in people then he does not deserve it to find good buyers.

from the beginning of synths emulation, one of the synths that I was really waiting for was the elka synthex (along with the apr 2600, the prophet 5 and the minimoog)! it 's one of the best synths ever made, for years i was especting arturia to do it but i'm quite happy that xils lab has made it because their products have a great sound quality ! and by the way jean-michel jarre has made a whole album using the synthex in almost all the tracks ( rendez-vous)... i agree that the e-license dongle system sucks that's why i'm waynting for the pc version even if i'll buy the synth anyway !

Haha at people moaning at the presets, its a relief if there arn't any dubstep industrial or trance presets & the GUI is extremely well thought out in comparison to most of the trash that gets put out.
