Dada Life Sausage Fattener v1.0 VST AU MAC OSX UB-iND screenshot
Team iND | Size: 19.95 MB
Recreating the sound of their favourite producer is the goal of many an aspiring fader jockey. So when renowned dance production duo Dada Life teamed up with developer Tailored Noise to offer their sound in a plug-in called Sausage Fattener, we had to sit up and listen.

But is it all sizzle and no steak? Let's get stuck in and try it out…

Sausage Fattener is a multi-purpose plug-in that offers fat compression at one end of the scale and full-on distortion at the other.

There are just two knobs: Fatness, which can give weight and oomph to anything you throw it over (be that a bassline, drum bus or even master output), and Colour, which adds edge and brightness.

The only other parameter is gain, which is important as the effect of the plug-in varies greatly according to signal level.

Despite having only two knobs, you can get a huge amount of variation from the interaction between them. This can be further tapped into by adjusting the gain.

We'd like to talk about the specific processes going on behind that cheery-looking sausage, but Dada Life and Tailored Noise are keeping tight-lipped. All they will say is that it's designed to reproduce the gear/processes that always features on Dada Life tracks.

The crunch, edge, bite, weight and, well, phatness it can add is incredible for channels or complete tracks - we've even automated it and used it as an arrangement effect. The effect is described as making things 'greasier' and 'phatter', and we'd agree with that.

We could complain about the lack of level meters, the non-serious interface and any info on what the plug-in actually does, but that really would be to miss the point. Sausage Fattener is meant to be set by ear, to artificially beef up your audio for the greater good.

And you needn't take our word for it, as other users are said to include Tiesto, Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke.

Anybody else notice it stopped working with Logic Pro X 10.1.0? The validation log reads:

validation result: successfully validated
updating properties of AU Sausage Fattener by Dada Life…FAILED!

I found this "Guys to get sausage fattener working again in logic, delete the AU plugin, use VSTAU manager (free download) to install an AU wrap of the VST plugin, then use 32 lives to wrap this 32-bit plugin as a 64-bit version. Works perfectly."
Here: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/logic-pro-x/981054-logic-10-1-0-what-do-you-want-3.html

Tested it, it works (even if VSTAU often crashes)

Guys this plug continue to not work in Ableton live 9 suite 64 bit , as far as you activate the plugins there's no sound coming through ... it's really nonsense ! the vst version work instead ! too strange, does anyone know if this problem could be solved buying the plugin? I don't think it's the best solution o___O

Its just 32bits

It doesn't work with 32 bit either. As far as I know, the AU version does not work. I have tried it in Logic and Ableton. The VST does work, but I have too many VSTs installed so I can't enable VSTs in Ableton without it crashing. If I really need Sausage Fattener, I could route it through Blue Cat Patchwork or any similar program, but most of the time it's not worth the extra effort. The One Knob series from Waves works just as well.

Hi guys,
I got a little problem. I downloaded and installed everything but when i want to put the plug-in into the insert-effects nothing happens.
There is also only the AU-Version visible in my DAW (Studio One).
But the AU-Version of an other crack does work...

Has anyone an advice?

Got this working on Logic Pro X 10.4.4 / OSX 10.13.6:

- removed failing component out of /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
- used VSTAU to create 32 bits component from the VST (freeware from https://syntheway.com/VSTAU.htm)
- used 32 Lives from Sound Radix to create 64 bits component from the 32 bits one (DL from here: https://audioz.download/software/mac/132835-download_sound-radix-32-lives-v1010-macosx-incl-keygen-hexwars.html)
- moved 32 lives components to /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (Logic did not see it when in /Users/xxx/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components)

That's it !
