The benchmark in solid-state sound.
The Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus is a benchmark voice in the amplifier world, heard on countless hit tracks through the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and beyond. Its stereo solid-state circuitry is a big part of its uniqueness and contributes to its signature sound. Famous for its exceptional headroom, it stays clean even at high volumes. The design translates every detail of your playing dynamics with precision, providing a snappy, articulate response that’s also warm and inspiring.

Pedal platform.
With its exceptionally clean and transparent tone, the JC-120 is an ideal pedal platform for players who want their effects to shine through without unnecessary coloration. The JC-120 software offers the same pristine and punchy voice, allowing you to plug your pedalboard into your audio interface and capture solid tracks with your favorite external effects.

Lush stereo chorus.
The JC-120’s built-in Dimensional Space Chorus is a cornerstone of its iconic sound. This lush, immersive effect adds unparalleled depth and spaciousness to chords, arpeggios, and any other audio you run through it. The unique analog circuitry has been meticulously analyzed and recreated in the JC-120 software, ready to enhance your music with its unique, captivating character.

More than a guitar amp.
Because of its unique design and wide-spectrum sound, the JC-120 is a perennial favorite for producers—not only for guitars but other instruments as well. With multiple instances of the JC-120 in your DAW, you can add life and depth to electric pianos, plucked and lead synths, drums, and more.

Double the channels. Double the fun.
The JC-120 software replicates the two independent channels of the original amp and expands on their capabilities. Each channel delivers that stellar clean tone, giving you the flexibility to blend instruments, create separate signal paths for clean and effected sounds, or explore unique stereo-processing techniques within your DAW.

Modern features to define your sound.
The JC-120 software is filled with powerful features for modern production. Use the selectable stereo modes for spatial configurations that go beyond the original hardware’s capabilities. Sync the iconic chorus effect to your DAW’s tempo, ensuring perfect rhythmic integration with your tracks. And with the advanced speaker simulation, you can sculpt your tone with unprecedented realism. Select from a range of microphone types, fine-tune their placement, and dial in the perfect amount of room ambience to create a truly immersive sonic experience.

Windows 10 21H2 (multiple computers) here. On one of my computers it crashes Reaper and refuses to work in Studio One 6. On another computer (same OS, same up to date redistributables installed) it works in Reaper (didn't test it in Studio One here). Weird. Maybe something with the CPU compatibility, but Roland doesn't mention any specific requirements.

Reaper crashed when I shut off my Quantum 2626 also.

Win11, Cubendo 14, works perfect!

Even if you're not a guitar player, just try on synths: preset #3 on pads and e-pianos, then cruncheS / saturationS (by pushing the Gain button... or not) on "analog" sounds, vibrato / tremolo on moog-like leads...

What is true for this one is also true for other guitar amps / pedals sims of course.

Some crazy ones goes even beyond that, in buying actual, hardware guitar amps and using them as (impredictible, chaotic) effects in their studios...
I'm alive!!! :D Isn't it astounding??? ;)

I'm placing it at center, & two NAM profiles at left and right (Tone King Imperial and Matchless), I can't believe what's going on, at all, PURE JOY. I hope to have time enough to drop a decent tribute of gratitude for SEnki & the whole staff for all of this.

I haven't checked the JC120 yet but it sounds good.

I'm curious what you mean by placing it at the center and two NAM profiles on either side? Do you mean there are 3 guitar tracks? Or are you using the Roland Cloud JC-120 only as a chorus effect for the two NAM profiles on an effect/group channel? Can you tell me the chain?

3 tracks, but in my brother's machine, in my Phenom II scheme I can't load more than 2 NAM instances, in the Intel 12ºGen I'm running those 2 amp profiles (one is a Full Rig), & the Matchless along a NAM alnico Blue profile made by the soundhunter akka_5. Avoided crashes by Ui Reaper mode.

test machine - w10 22H2 - OFFLINE - latest vc++ dist
- no AAX test possible
- crashes reaper instantly just trying to load
- crashes cubase/nuendo 14 instantly on loading
- crashes wavelab 12 instantly on loading

Production machine - w10 21H2 - OFFLINE - latest vc++ dist
- AAX crashes entire PT 12.5 HD DAW after 3-5 minutes
- VST3 Cubase/Nuendo 14 seems OK thus far.
- VST3 Wavelab 12 seems OK thus far.
- VST3 Reaper v7.35 seems OK thus far.

the AAX would be nice to be able to get working.

Maybe I should wait for an update or a new release because based on the feedback it doesn't seem stable. (W10 22H2, Cubase 13/14.)

I have used the original hardware version a couple of times in my life, but I don't have it at hand now, so I cannot make a direct comparison. But putting that aside, I find the Nembrini version (Jazz Chorus VST) MUCH better. This Roland plugin sounds boxy and requires an external EQ to make the sound sitting well in a mix. Also, I find the chorus made by Nembrini better (and yes, I have a long experience with vintage Roland/Boss analog choruses). The chorus in Nembrini Jazz Chorus is spot on and easy to tweak. The chorus in this release by Roland is somewhat problematic.

TLDR: Nembrini Jazz Chorus sounds better, is more versatile and easier to use than Roland's own version,

I fully agree, i ABed them both with Tonex, then i used them both in cabnetron, it still sounded boxy, its odd how poor sounding this is, lovely GUI, and it uses a lot of CPU, the Nembrini is really good, its distortion is a lot better also, or though i expect a bit OTT and not like the hardware. I do like the Roland 201 though, its seems very cool to me
