Hello good people! I have a question, I have no experience of Tone Empire's products. What do you guys think about this one, for example? I own the Black Rooster LA2A and I like it. Cheers and have a good one!

Hummm....

While it's a helluva fun ride, it's tiresome to compare so many plugins, so when I finally got to Tone Empire, I relied on the judgement of our seasoned colleagues of the audioz community, who pointed out CPU performance, aliasing and emulation accuracy flaws all across their product line, and just gave the company a pass.

Now, when it comes to LA2A, I've compared many of them emulations (from Hornet, Analog Obsession, Overloud, DMG and Fabfilter) and I think you won't find anything better than the Black Rooster one. It's a set and forget type of deal! I am glad that, at least when it comes to the LA2A, I can finally rest my tired plugin-testing soul.

Well, since your soul is tired and we are condemned to the eternal torment of hardware emulations... If you haven't tried it, try the Nebula version of TimP, but use the recommended Pre-Comp-Cliper configuration. It's here at audioz under the name Opto 32A. 😈

You had me giggling. I will try this Opto 32A if I can install it easily.

comparing vst to vst is wrong
there is no better one
until we compare them against the real hardware.

Even if none of the compared vsts sound close to the hardware, some would still sound better than others, so there's no right or wrong here

My favorite for the LA-2A is the Universal Audio Teletronix; I can't mix without it. Still, all plugins have their pros and cons, and some work better than others in some situations.

This looks to be an ELOP emulation, so not really fair to compare this to LA2A plugins - haven't tried this but I'd expect it to be drier and cleaner sounding.

The Elop compressor (from Manley) is based on the LA-2A type compressor.

I mean they're both optos, but the two sound very different.

Buy an Audioscape Opto and save a bunch of coin.

Guys, am I going crazy or is this compressor totally bugged? I disabled auto gain, but it still sounds louder. The more reduction I apply, the louder it gets.
