very cool, is this their take on oeksound's bloom?

It sounds and looks closer to FF Saturn, will have to test it out

its similar but quite different. Bloom is dynamics, eq, and you can tweak it in depth. This focuses on saturation, and is pretty limited in function, with some basic preset curves. It sounds decent in some testing tho.

It's the Ozone Clarity module, but instead of boosting the frequency directly in parallel, it boosts the frequency pre waveshaping dynamically in the parallel saturation path which will then blended back with the original signal. The usual Pink Noise reference or maybe Izotope's own reference curve for detection path. User gets some control for the envelope speed but not the curve tilting (like Ozone Clarity).

Technically what it does is using saturation (adding harmonics) instead of an EQ (frequency boosting) to balance the track to the reference curve.

It will be game changing if it really is adding harmonics (even or odd order heavy) correctly depending on the track's need, but I doubt it. If it analyze the track "damn this needs some tape".. bammmm add some Studer sat.. "this needs some Tube warmth" bammm add tube sat. Well that would be awesome isn't it.

Haven't tried it yet (or this one).. its a module inside Ozone rather than standalone plugin, right?
  Member 18.12.2023 215

it is part of ozones modules and is a plugin itself independent of ozone. To me, is a incredible mastering tool, i didnt used in a mix yet, but, why not right

I use the Clarity standalone plugin all the time, even for guitar track before it's going into the amp sim. For mixing applying Clarity to an element that you want to send to heavy FX can really benefit it in a way, Applying Clarity to heavily processed track a bit can also make it tighter without all the muds.

The key is adjust the tilt correctly and att/rel of course. Most of the time at 0 tilt the track will appear too bright. At -2 to -4db is where you'd want it most of the time if you include freq past 4kHz because it will excite the noisy bit of super high frequency a little too much and that wont sound pleasant in comparison (sound perception problem, we're just human). Slowing down the attack remove a lot of transient from the processing that almost always responsible for making things sound harsh especially from upper midrange area and onwards. If it's too much, change to Transient/Sustain split mode and pick one of it. Mid/Side mode with fast attack on the Mid channel can bring center image perception forward in a nice, dynamic way.

the way I use it, I select frequency range from 600 to 2-4kHz. Just the midrange. Pull the tilt down to -2 or so depends on the track. Mix 20 to 25%. From there I adjust the att/rel accordingly, whether I want more transient included or not. If it's too much, I go to Transient/Sustain split mode and only do it to the Sustain portion of the track.

Like Soothe and every other spectral processing, the amount of mix is important as it can break the track sometimes, especially in mastering.

Listening to Delta for a spectral processing plugin will just give a rough overview of what's happening and can't be taken seriously most of the time since the processing is deep, and the difference goes way too detailed for it to be meaningful listened in solo. Sometimes we hear smearing, all those weird sound which doesnt really reflect to the final result when everything summed together.

Auto-gain ON all the time.

To me, ozone 11 itself is unbeatable. And clarity is part of this awsome tool for sure

Ozone or Ojoke sounds harsh and ugly. If you can’t here that the mere insertion of stabilizer makes the sound bad then I don’t know

Although it says on the Izotope site that this plugin isn't supported on Catalina it does, in fact, work very well.
Thanks Moria.
