If you need tools like this, it would be better to go out and meet people.

Some people just like arranging and mixing .. you never used midis before? Never have beat block?

I have never used premade MIDIs before. I might LOOK at them for inspiration or to understand musical concepts but never just drag and drop them into a project (except for drum patterns maybe). What's even the point of making music that doesn't come from your own mind? The human mind has one thing that machines will never be able to replace and that is intuition.

I have used MIDIs. In 2008 as a kid, I found a download for all nonstop2k's MIDIs.
Tons of trance, hands up, techno etc.

I learned of a lot of good songs with good progressions. I tried to recreate songs attempting to make something just as good.

I sometimes left out the fact that they were not my melodies, gave them new names. Which looking back on, I regret. As human beings, it's tempting to take more credit than we deserve.

It was a lot of work going through my old work, and trying to determine which songs were original and which were using MIDI. So I learned my lesson and made sure to label my songs properly, and stopped using MIDIs unless I was doing actual covers, and even then I would reference the original song and recheck the notes and their lengths etc.

As someone who transitioned from using existing MIDIs (Long ago, we're talking 2009) to working hard to make songs just as good by myself, I would be hesitant to use a crutch like a MIDI generator plugin.

But I can't deny that using something like Scaler can be a better crutch than stolen MIDI songs had I had the choice back then.

Still, I consider these types of plugin companies to be scummy and bordering on scam tactics. Any company that shills AI / NFTs, I would be concerned about malware or privacy invasions on my PC.

I don't even use wav files for snares and hi hats. I put them in a sampler and hit the snare on 2 and 4 (or wherever I feel like it) manually.... the joy of creating gets lost when you dont move your hand off the mouse and drag shit into a daw... Thats just boring and a waste of time

Dope song! I've found that turning down any tool in the search for inspiration is doing myself a disservice. Thanks for the upload. I'll definitely give it a try to see if it's worth purchasing.

That statement is incorrect. MIDI generators can be valuable tools for music producers and can enhance their creative capabilities. They can provide new inspiration, aid in idea generation, and enable producers to create unique sounds and compositions. While meeting people can also be important, having the right tools and technology can have a positive impact on the creative process and improve music production skills.

Edit: But this plugin sucks.

You're harsh, but you're not wrong.

My problem with these types of plugins:

You are lowering your standards to approve of a tool, because its "just a tool". A dollar store hammer is a tool too, but it could break, snap and hurt someone. It could be improperly made, and give people lead poisoning, splinters, etc.

We have a tool here that basically lets you generate random MIDI chord/melodies. Its gimmick is that anything you type, ends up giving you the same result (which is known a "text seed").

On one hand, this tool is liable to give you poor results. You may spend a lot of time trying more and more, unhappy with the results. On another hand, you may find people without talent rely on plugins like it heavily, and gain clicks despite it, which is lame but not your problem either.

But the real problem, is that this opens the door to accepting scammers. If we praise "AudioCipher", then we will start to praise other BS companies like Midi Wizard, and other fake AI plugin scams. Looking at AudioCipher, it appears to be related to NFTs and AI scams, so I'm definitely concerned. They even have AI-generated "blog posts" about Meowsynth / Delay Lama, aimed to get clicks or something.

I apply a simple mantra: Nothing is above criticism. AudioCipher is highly suspect. If I want a tool that helps me be inspired, I will use Scaler, not something that requires me to click randomize 99 times!

Also: Yes we got it here for free, so we shouldn't complain... but they are selling it. If it's garbage, people who buy it are getting screwed, period. There are much more deserving devs for those sales, who aren't shilling NFTs.

Who are you to tell people how they should make music?
  Member 16.05.2023 159

I would say that dragging midi into a daw isnt making music, its using music, there's a big difference there. Like samples, using samples is way different than creating samples.

Ok guys, interesting conversation/debate for Audiosex.
But here could we please get back and stick to the release?

Which are the results when puting a phrase in this vst? Are they usable? Can they be used as inspiration to create new melodies etc...

I'm really fed up with arrogant narcissists like you who constantly want to tell other people what to do and what is right or wrong. Mind your own business and stay out of other peoples business. No one needs your "smart" advice.

Hey, I need his comments. They amuse me. Everyone must be free to have their say, provided that no violent and offensive language is used. If you say: 'none of us need your smart comment here' then you are representing the opinion of an entire community, but you are doing it without any delegation, is this clear to you?
If paedophilia is just an orientation issue, then burying you all is just a matter of gardening...

Of course I tried a short phrase first but that didn't produce anything useable either. It's just randomly adding notes within the given scale and with fixed note duration and that's simply not how most melodies work. It doesn't follow a pattern that we think of as harmonious.
  Resident 2.10.2008 543

Exactly. I'd rather deal with my beat block melodies instead

The trick could be to delete notes selectively though, to achieve something more acceptable.
