Sinevibes Stator v1.0.0 VST3-Articstorm screenshot
Windows | VST3 | 7MB | v1.0.0
Stator is a tape wobble simulator. It uses a creative approach to replicate the effects of speed fluctuations in tape machines: wow and flutter coming from uneven electric motor rotation and tape feed, as well as scrape flutter caused by the friction of the tape against the tape head. The result is a complex speed modulation signal that produces a wide variety of pitch drift and lo-fi jitter effects – similar to the sound of worn-out, unstable audio and video cassette players. Stator also employs individual stereo widening formulas in each of its three modulation components, plus it has variable channel crosstalk for adding chorusing and phasing artifacts – and creating sounds with a truly beautiful vintage vibe.

been waiting for this one, thanks
It makes no sense to say you’re not good at it. It’s like saying, “I’m not good at being a monk.” You are either living as a monk or you’re not.

I always wonder why a musician wants her/his music sound like a damaged old cassette.

i actually DO use a wobble every once in a great while but generally as like a parallel 50/50 or to taste on say a synth pad/chord. in essence i'm using it as a chorus type thing i guess, perhaps just a bit of a different flavor.

for the whole "my entire song is being put through bit reduction and wobble" that's not my thing per say but i get what they're trying to chase- i'd think of it as antiquing lol. like, if you've got the resources you can go get awesome old furniture.... or if you don't you can get some ikea type stuff, make it LOOK really old and for all intents and purposes/intense porpoises your living room looks like it has antique furniture.

obviously for both you could go to a garage sale and get an old actual sofa and tape deck. but you can chase the sound "in the box" too... cause if you're trying to chase the sound of something like this (https://jelsmusic.bandcamp.com/album/10-seconds) you're gonna probably wanna "damage" your clean 96khz perfect all soft synth beat in order to replicate the lofi vibe.

anyway, not sure if i'm on the right track or not with that, just my two cents. again not my thing, BUT if i WERE to make a youtube video with an anime chick wearing headphones for clicks i'd be running it through something so people know it's "lofi beats" lol. speaking of that album i linked- song 3 Exit Multi Mode is MMMMMM so good, he did all on the sp1200 and the album named references that 10 seconds was the max sampling time. i sold my mpc2000xl for 1300 dollars on ebay a decade ago.... i get why people can't afford the real deal.

btw i agree 100% with everyone happy with the sinevibes, the UI's are simple but effective, they do their job. skew to me being the most unique/hard to replicate.... i was using Rob papen reverse before was very meh for my taste... Skew works for me. i've added them to my "when/if i have money to go legit" list.

For the same reason a photographer may go out their way to find and purchase an old polaroid vs a new nikon. Entirely different creative purpose. Music is about feeling more than sound quality, highly recommend experimenting more in this regard.
