Celemony Melodyne Studio v5.2.0 macOS screenshot
macOS | 6 May 2022 | 285 MB
Melodyne is a software application which you can edit audio in a more musical way than was ever thought possible. In Melodyne, you work with notes – and not with a meaningless wave form. You don’t just see where the music gets louder or quieter but also where notes begin and end and at what pitch they lie.

Note-based audio editing
Melodyne grants you unrivaled access to all the musical details in your recordings and samples – note by note. This is made possible by a sophisticated analysis that delves deeply into your recordings and samples, and recognizes and understands the musical relationships within them: the individual notes and their characteristics, the scales, keys and chords, the timing, the tempo, the tone color. And with Melodyne you can edit all these things intuitively. With vocals, but every type of instrument as well – including polyphonic ones, such as the piano and guitar.

Notes and tools
In Melodyne, notes are represented by blobs. By manipulating these with Melodyne’s powerful tools, you can edit (among other things) the pitch, vibrato, volume, sibilants, length, timing and formants of each note. In this way, you can enhance in a musical yet straightforward manner the intonation, phrasing, dynamics and timbre of a performance. While ingenious algorithms ensure your editing’s almost always inaudible, sensitive, natural.

Why Melodyne is better
That Melodyne sounds so good and is so simple to use is based on two things. The less important is the technology.
The decisive factor is its understanding of the music.
Melodyne identifies the notes and the relationships between them. It is only as a result of this knowledge that Melodyne’s algorithms are able to “think” and operate in such a musical way. The benefits to you as a musician and producer include the famously superior sound of Melodyne and many other advantages that software lacking this understanding of musical contexts is incapable of offering.

macOS
Intel Dual Core processor (Quad Core or better recommended), 4 GB RAM (8 GB or more recommended), macOS 10.12 (64-bit) or higher. Melodyne 5.2 runs native on Apple Silicon Macs.
Interfaces
Plug-in operation via VST3, AU or AAX. ARA integration with compatible DAWs, as set out in the section on DAW compatibility.

AU PlugIn (in Logic) and Stand-Alone App work ARM native on M1 (Monterey).

BUT I still can't get ARA to work. It always defaults to the standard PlugIn window with the transfer button. It might also be more of a Logic problem.

Anyone got ARA to work in Logic on M1 machine?

in Reaper VST3 ARA works with this release, but AU shows transfer button (so no ara in au)

I got the same issue in Logic. The ARA plugin is not functioning as the ARA plugin should. Since you have to transfer the audio into Melodyne.
And I can't make the VST3 ARA work in Reaper as it doesn't appear. I've tried with and without codedesign but only the AU is showing up in Reaper. So no ARA unfortunately here yet...

Did you use Permission Reset or Batchmod on the VST3 file in VST3 Plugins folder?

Cause I did, along with the codedesign commands in Terminal, then a rescanning of plugings and it works. M1 Monterey, Ableton.

Thanks, the Permission Reset worked on the VST3, so ARA works with Reaper.
Hopefully the ARA for Logic will be fixed, as comping is much more enjoyable than Reaper.

Oi, was that the order? I just spray and pray in any random order (...well, always leaving codesign signing last ofc) to get VSTs working.

Also, I didn't think the PR app did much. Figured Batchmod has/had covered the same ground(?). Cheers!

Celemony told that the current release of Logic does not allow ARA to work properly.

ARA only works with VST3 .
Has nothing to do with this release.

There is actually an explanation by Celemony why ARA in Logic currently only works in Rosetta mode on ARM Macs.

ARA must be the first plug-in in the Logic Pro chain, otherwise ARA can’t function - could this be your issue?

Audio Random Access (commonly abbreviated to ARA) is an extension for audio plug-in interfaces, such as AU, VST and RTAS, allowing them to exchange a greater amount of audio information with digital audio workstation (DAW) software. It was developed in a collaboration between Celemony Software and PreSonus.

did you have to use terminal commands for plugin? In other words what was the procedure for installation?

Got this working with ara in Studio One on a 2012 MBP running Mojave
First I uninstalled the older Melodyne with it's included uninstaller and then installed the demo provided and swopped out the files.
I tried the commands but they didn't work for me.
Tried BatChmod but also no luck.
Tried Permission Reset app and all ok except standalone but I'm not arsed about that.
I individually dropped the app/au/vst3/and the 2 bundles onto Permissions Reset app.
Thanks!
