its pretty often that Windows and Mac versions differ in sizes by a lot.

Its the same here, when you check the installers on the klevgrand page.

also mac seems to have two versions: 10.11 and 10.10 and a general version, maybe for new versions of MacOS!

but this could have been just found out by look in the klevgrand page.

Maybe could be the "older" macOS versions are incorpoprated into newer to avoid to have separate installers.

Only specifically "by a lot" when the Mac installer has the library for both platorms!
Otherwise it is a minimal difference; Mac being slightly bigger.

The heavy two version drop for Macs are for post/pre High Sierra.
And the manuals folder, with .pdf manuals for every single plugin, is in the Mac folder! That's another 150+ MB.

so you have the size differences. Windows has VST2 and VST3. No AU and then we have for two processor types. There you have your size difference.

usually different platforms use different libraries and dependencies (similarly as plugin themselves are different on Windows vs MacOS),
don't trouble yourself with it
