Analog Obsession : BESURE-N87 [FREE]

Agreed- At max, it's like an overstated caricature of a U87, but if you dial in very carefully, taking your time, the result is actually quite nice. Perfect? Nein! But it's pretty good, it's very apparent, and it definitely can help something stand out in a mix! They have a 251 emulation for 40 dollars, and are adding a U47 and U67 sooner than later, probably at the same price. I bet that, if you use all of them on different tracks, you'll be able to make everything sound more unique.

I will say, though- Slate VMS doesn't do too great of a job converting their condenser to sound like a dynamic. So, I think we are seeing some of the opposite problem here, not that the warmth and character is horrible. It would be nice if there were a condenser that, like a 57 and 58, nearly everyone had.

It may be unrealistic as many other hardware emulation plugin well ,it's not only about that , it's about taking the sound to that next level of { gain stage } . If looking to make more musical realistic sound, you may need to help using some analog equipment . also is what are you working on , recording Mixing , Mastering . don't forge't that either S58 Shure and Neumann U87 are most likely used for voices , and we all know If the Voice Track is not been recorded great , you many not get great result on it So..

Exactly how high? On what CPU? In what host? I ask these questions so the full context of the assertion can be understood, so people don't get the wrong idea.

In my case, on a Ryzen 7 1800X, in Cockos Reaper 5.70 x64, my CPU hit is 0.2%. No latency. This is a low-medium amount of CPU for my use case, where most products are at 0.1% or less, and only a small percentage of the heaviest plugins hit above 0.4%.
