The Next Generation of Proteus
The Proteus Rack Library was produced by the original E-MU sound and graphic designers. Starting with the original hardware sound samples, instruments are mapped and programmed to match the hardware sound modules. The powerful script programming integrates the hardware functionality to the software for the same great look and feel of the sound modules.

This new sound library is not an update to the original Proteus Pack. The sound module synthesizers have been built from the ground up. Now designed for Native Instruments free Kontakt Player, the full version of Kontakt, Komplete, and Maschine. The instruments are seamlessly integrated and can be controlled by all NKS hardware.

You will recognise a lot of classic stuff from the last 20 years of music with these libs.
Recommend. But is genre dependent.
Pre Kontakt, I still have all these for EXS-24. I think a lot of the samples are classic 90s stuff. Mo' Phatt has some classic 80s samples in it.

This version comes with multis and the velocity mapping is good. The sample quality is also better than its predecessor. It also has an nicnt file.

I own the real - rack Proteus 2000 and Planet Earth hardware units by EMU, all in pristine condition without a scratch! These are my gems. I also purchased this from Digital Sound Factory sometimes ago and I can tell you that the quality is very good indeed! I was surprise to hear it. Yes, there are some presets that are not 100% accurate, I mean if you're real picky like me, on hearing extremely detailed recreation of the samples, then if you compare some VST presets side by side with the hardware unit you'll see some tiny loss of details, on the bottom low or some top highs, but nothing major. Overall this is very good.

P.S, this is much better than the old version.

I see these models all the time in the range of 200-300$ USD.

Mostly the Yellow and the Purple ones, but that is probably more due to hiphop popularity here. They were also very popular with R&B/Soul/Gospel type producers and keyboard players. These are not rare machines, they are Emu and they are old but these are like entry level vintage items to collectors. A great type of instrument to have as a Kontakt lib, not to fill your rack up with a bunch of them.

No my Kontakt is legit but because these are just files you can load from anywhere on your drive, I didn't think it would matter. Does it need to be cracked?

If you don't own a k'd version of Kontakt, it won't load libraries that you don't legitimately own. So, yes, you need a k'd version of Kontakt to use this (or any other library that you don't own).

After being underwhelmed with their previous version, then checking everyone's comments on here, I decided to give this a second shot. This version is definitely better -- I only ever owned a PROteus MPS+ keyboard and a PROteus/2 rack module, so I have no basis of comparison with the hardware -- and I like some of the multis. The previous version always felt glitchy and broken to me, which is why I ultimately threw it out. This version is at least useful!

I'm always for some retro samples from old gear. E-MU Proteus racks were revered as sounding quite real in the 90s. I used Proteus 1 and 2 in the studio I worked in at the time. Proteus 2000 is a better version which contained samples from all Proteus racks [so just symphonic orchestra]. Later on we acquired another pretty good E-MU rack: Orbit. Great for dance music. Sorely missing in this collection.

Thank you for uploading it, Talula. This contains a ton of still completely usable sounds. I'm going to export some waves so I can use them in other samplers.

Side note: I recommend all who downloaded it to repack it because this is not compressed. You'll get a ~830MB RAR. Cheers!

There is Orbit done too but we this version E-MU Kontakt Proteus Legacy and hopefully someone will upload it :) Orbit is the best for electronic dance music I agree with you!
