REQ: CATT-Acoustics 9.1
Hi,
I searched but I don't found that software, you can download a Demo from there site, but you can't activate the demo until the sent you a key file by email after a request.
This program it is to draw a room in 3D and then analise the acoustical response.
What does CATT and CATT-Acoustic stand for?
CATT is an acronym for Computer Aided Theater Technique since theater lighting and decor CAD programs were the first CATT products in 1986. Since 1988, CATT has concentrated on software for acoustics prediction/auralization (CATT-Acoustic) and FIR reverberation tools (The FIReverb Suite™) and a B-format reflection analysis tool (ReflPhinder™)
In a JASA paper ("Acoustic, acoustics", Robert T. Beyer, JASA 98(1), July 1995) the historical origins of the words acoustic and acoustics were researched. A reference from the 17th century was presented where the word "Catacoustics" was used to describe reflected sound (direct sound was called "Acoustics", and refracted sound was called "Diacoustics"). This makes the name CATT-Acoustic have some meaningful acoustical background since, in deed, reflected sound is exactly what it is about. This is of course pure coincidence since the software was named in 1988.
