The balance between direct sound and reverberation is essential for the acoustic quality of audio recordings. DeVerberate is a reverb reduction plug-in that can attenuate or boost the reverberation that is already present in recorded material. The novel real-time algorithm works equally well with mono as with stereo recordings and splits the incoming audio into an estimation of the direct sound and the reverberated sound which can then be recombined freely. The improvement process can be monitored visually using the spectral representations of the input and output signal as well as of the estimated reverberation.

A literature study on the classical and emerging Primary Ambient Extraction (PAE) techniques is presented. The emerging techniques aim to improve the extraction performance and also enhance the robustness of PAE approaches in dealing with more complex signals encountered in practice. The in-depth theoretical study helps readers to understand the rationales behind these approaches. Extensive objective and subjective experiments validate the feasibility of applying PAE in spatial audio reproduction systems. These experimental results, together with some representative audio examples and MATLAB codes of the key algorithms, illustrate clearly the differences among various approaches and also help readers gain insights on selecting different approaches for different applications.

Many people may not know, but in addition to the Akai S1100 being a classic workhorse sampler, it can also be used as an external effects processor.

While the reverb on the S1100 may not be too impressive by today's standards, it does offer a classic sound that appeared on many popular tracks in the 90's.

Included in this download are the first 20 presets for the onboard effects. After the first 20, the effects are modulated or pitched shifted, and don't translate well for use in a convolution reverb.

The IRs were created using Ableton Live's IR measurement device, and should work in any convolution reverb that will accept stereo aiff IRs.
