We mixed analog-modeled components and usability with digital algorithms to create an outstanding vocoder sound. The plugin has included a synth with a VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) to create classic analog waveforms. It can produce carrier signals with a lot of overtones.

A perfectly imperfect family choir.

The instrument has eight samples and features the voices of Jon Meyer’s family. The voices are Dad, Mom, and Meyers’ two young sons, Luke and Austin. The vocal instrument is heavily processed though, so it doesn’t sound like a family singalong. The Meyer Choir instead produces a range of eerie and otherworldly choir sounds. Along with more traditional sounds, the plugin has some quirky presets such as Chiff-munks, No Girls Aloud, and Polka Dots.

I had an idea, I wanted to share my love of analogue synthesis, but I wanted to embrace the advantages of sampling. I didn’t want to simply recreate the sounds I had made on my synth, I wanted to push them into new possibilities. Mix them, morph them, repurpose them in ways I could never physically achieve on the synth alone. A nexus between synthesis and sampling that would create a fun, performable instrument with cool features, effects and textures. A mixture, a blend, an amalgam of sounds and capabilities.
