Poll: Magazines Not Related to Professional Audio screenshot
Recently we've been overwhelmed by variety of magazines that uploaders try to submit. I don't mind more content as an administrator but i do mind posts that might not be of interest to you or me personally.

I've made a definition for Valter76 (moderator in charge of posts) - "we don't process magazines that are not related to Professional Audio", but it's not always that easy to define whether a magazine is related to Pro Audio or just Music overall.

Here are a few examples of what i consider to be not related to Professional Audio:
HiFi, Rhytm, Billboard, Rock'n Folk N...

Please tell me, do you personally want to see these kind of magazines at AudioZ?

Thank you.

Poll: Magazines Not Related to Professional Audio screenshot
The reason why this poll has been active for so long is because I've been waiting for at least some reasonable movement into one side or another.

Yes, 19 more members voted against posting those magazines, but, is that number enough to make such significant changes to the site? - I don't think so.

Most members said they don't mind unrelated magazines, even if they don't download them;
So I think we'll leave things as they are for now, and if this situation goes worst, i'll run a new poll.

Thanks for voting!

I couldn't agree more. Pop culture mags in general are just the propaganda arm of the big corporations and only push the crap the corporate world wants them to push.

These traditional media, however, are failing catastrophically nowadays, and that's why they've redoubled their effort to take the internet, which is the last place where we can still enjoy a modicum of freedom. Unfortunately, it's not going to last long...

Sun Tzu never had to fight corporate conglomerates. The kind of entity that in today's world owns everything, from the politicians to the industry, to the military, to the media.

"the owners of this country (...), the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything."

Would it be possible to have them not be shown on the home page and just only in their respected category?

That way everybody will remain happy.

a friend of mine makes some nice tunes by hitting cats...does that mean you wouldn't include cat fanciers monthly for instance?
certain breeds emit a more desirous sound when hit than others..this is something that is important to know in his line of work..
are YOU going to tell him you weren't there for him when he needed to know?!

I browse AudioZ for news and thus inevitable YES vote from me.

AudioZ is my first stop when I get on the net. Has been for a long time. I became a member instead of a lurker because my desire to participate over-ruled my parinoia. [THATS another topic I MAY delve into in the future]

I find it rather pleasing that I can get most of what I want [need?] from one site instead of traipsing around to a lot of different sites. I don't download nor do I read all the magazines offered here but in the same way I don't download all the offerings in software or samples either. It is great though to have the choice!

It is fine the way it is, isn't it? I mean who is doing the complaining? Let's not get too elite.

I subscribe to the maxim 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it!'

Great post my friend.

I really think it's cool that your desire to participate overruled your paranoia.

I like Rhythm Magazine but not the others. I guess I'm not sure.

Saint, Thank you for asking our opinion.

What would be for "Pro Audio" without music itself?
I'm ok with magazines like Rock and Folk, Rhythm, Billboard and so even if they mostly respond to entertainment industry instead of bringing us real new stuff to listen to.

But my concern is, what will be the frontier? Do we want to see "pop star magazine" with Justin bierber in cover? Or Ok Magazine from France?

Imho, lets keep it simple: A short list of renown magazines like we already have here is ok. Then as someone says, you can always check how many downloads they have to know if AZ users are interested.

How about a French magazine entirely dedicated to Bieber fandom? Would that make the cut?

I like AudioZ being my one stop site for all things music...including music mags.

As Catalyst said, don't make them leak into the main page. I don't mind having more resources, but what's outstanding about Audioz is the focus. Even when there're some publications that may be seen as odd, like a song with isolated tracks for remixing, the focus is still centered about what you can do with the audio and not for you to enjoy the songs.
I would have thought the poll needed more options, so if I'm forced to take position I say NO.

I file these under tutorials, as they are fantastic learning tools to understand how they constructed the record

what other kinds of magazines are we talking about?
  Member 25.01.2014 13

I'm not much of a magazine reader, but to each his own. As long as we can segregate the pro audio magazines from the more general ones, I say go for it simply because one man's trash is another man's treasure. However, be wary that the less pro audio related posts that this site makes will bring in other users to the Audioz community who may not really grasp what this site is all about. We don't want the residents to lose sight of the original objective

I say keep posting them, as I love to read a lot of ish on not just music, but culture as well. I used to buy this magazine when I was young called Big Daddy, I believe it was from England. That mag was the ish! I really miss mags like that. a few of the other ones that I liked were: Urb, Remix, Scratch, DJ Times, Mix Mag, Wax Poetics, The bomb, etc... so if you happen to get something along that line, by please post them up. I love to down load them to my tablet and read when i'm away from the my equipment.
thanks

For me I see no use in general music mags - them a lot around elsewhere.
Even more - music sites are more news friendly than outdating mags.
So i don't want see 'em in audioz education and home pages.

There's only place for this kind of stuff - outside audioz (we are not here for musicoz ;))

And yes - even dont think bout posting music cd`s - tis would be epic fail for community.

So far it seems that the community disagrees with you.

It's actually pretty close. At this precise moment, yes is winning by a mere three votes.

At the end of voting we`ll have 50/50 anyway .
So, imo, best way for everyone - to have `em in here, but no main page and edu page.
Let it be another section below lounge for exmpl.

To be honest I am interested in nearly everything that has to do with music. So I am also happy to sometimes see magazines that do not cover "professional audio" content, but still can expand my musical horizon.
For example as a producer I also like to have a look at the Billboard Mag to see what is going on in the music industry at the moment.

Well, "Professional Audio" could mean everything…… I think it would be better to leave music-scene magazines such as "Rolling Stone", "Billboard" etc… apart. Why? Because they are just platforms for more or less established stars in the music business.

Other magazines as CM, Future Music, Keyboard magazine are really ok!

I don't mind (but don't read) the popular music mags, but instrument-specific magazines like Rhythm, as you mentioned, I feel should have a place here. They contains lots of tips and tricks and tutorials etc. for musicians. Which is also very useful information for people doing their drumming in midi. Just as much as CM or Future Music etc.

Why not post them in a seperate section on audiosex forum

Just sayin'

You're obviously not grasping why AudioZ and AudioSex are separate forums. You can't post warez on AudioSex, it's one of the only rules there.
