Polarity Music Audio Reactive Modulations Bitwig Project-FANTASTiC screenshot
FANTASTiC | 06 April 2024 | 4 MB
I crafted a tutorial on how to use an envelope follower in Bitwig Studio to modulate the frequencies of a filter on a bass track using the amplitude of drums on a drum bus. This approach aims to create dynamic interaction between the bass and drum tracks, preventing the bass from sounding too static and lifeless. Here's a summary of the key points:

Samsara is an audio effect and so you can record incoming audio into the buffer to apply the granular looping on.

GTA | 06 April 2024 | 15.8 MB
Rhythmorphic is a max for live MIDI Effect. It has four sequencers that can create “non”-euclidean sequences (patterns that are not evenly distributed) by morphing or warping a euclidean sequence by the topology (brightness values) of an image or video. FANTASTiC | 06 April 2024 | 3 MB
Introduced in 1983, the JX-Programmable-Preset-Polyphonic analog synth from Roland was a big hit. Released alongside the Jupiter-6, both synths had a second oscillator which set them apart from the Juno. The JX-3P featured a button-only front panel and the classic chorus, whereas the Jupiter retained the knob and faders but had no built in effects.

Jazz: The American Theme Song screenshot
P2P | PDF | 14MB
Praised by the Washington Post as a "tough, unblinkered critic," James Lincoln Collier is probably the most controversial writer on jazz today. His acclaimed biographies of Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman continue to spark debate in jazz circles, and his iconoclastic articles on jazz over the past 30 years have attracted even more attention. With the publication of Jazz: The American Theme Song, Collier does nothing to soften his reputation for hard-hitting, incisive commentary. Questioning everything we think we know about jazz–its origins, its innovative geniuses, the importance of improvisation and spontaneous inspiration in a performance–and the jazz world, these ten provocative essays on the music and its place in American culture overturn tired assumptions and will alternately enrage, enlighten, and entertain.

The Quilting Points of Musical Modernism: Revolution, Reaction, and William Walton by J. P. E. Harper-Scott screenshot
English | Publisher: Cambridge University Press, 2012 | 301 Pages | PDF | 3 MB
Modernism is both a contested aesthetic category and a powerful political statement. Modernist music was condemned as degenerate by the Nazis and forcibly replaced by socialist realism under the Soviets. Sympathetic philosophers and critics have interpreted it as a vital intellectual defence against totalitarianism, yet some American critics consider it elitist, undemocratic and even unnatural.

The Piano: An Encyclopedia (Encyclopedia of Keyboard Instruments) 2nd Edition by Robert Palmieri screenshot
English | Publisher: Routledge, 2005 | 528 Pages | PDF | 7 MB
The Piano: An Encyclopedia was selected in its first edition as a Choice Outstanding Book and remains a fascinating and unparalleled reference work. The instrument has been at the center of music history with even composers of large symphonic work asserting that they do not write anything without sketching it out first on a piano; its limitations and expressive capacity have done much to shape the contours of the western musical idiom.

The People's Artist: Prokofiev's Soviet Years by Simon Morrison screenshot
English | Publisher: Oxford University Press, 2009 | 520 Pages | PDF | 3,6 MB
A study in contrasts, the career of Sergey Prokofiev spanned the globe, leaving him witness to the most significant political and historical events of the first half of the twentieth century. In 1918, after completing a program of studies at the St. Petersburg conservatory, Prokofiev escaped Russia for the United States and later France where, like most émigré artists of the time, he made Paris his home. During these hectic years, he composed three ballets and three operas, fulfilled recording contracts, and played recitals of tempestuous music. Scores were stored in suitcases, scenarios and librettos drafted on hotel letterhead.

The Mostly Mozart Guide to Mozart by Carl Vigeland screenshot
English | Publisher: Wiley, 2009 | 258 Pages | PDF | 3 MB
Over a period of roughly twenty years, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed more than 600 finished pieces of music. If you were the director of a major symphony orchestra, you could program only works by Mozart for an entire year—and still you would barely have scratched the surface of the composer's immense, and immensely moving, body of work. The Mostly Mozart Guide to Mozart is an accessible, insightful, and entertaining resource for music lovers looking for a deeper understanding of the genius of Mozart.

ENG | PDF | 7.25 MB
Powerful and embracive, The Transformation of Black Music explores the full spectrum of black musics over the past thousand years as Africans and their descendants have traveled around the globe making celebrated music both in their homelands and throughout the Diaspora. Authors Samuel A. Floyd, Melanie Zeck, and Guthrie Ramsey brilliantly discuss how the music has blossomed, permeated present traditions, and created new practices. As a companion to the ground-breaking The Power of Black Music, this text brilliantly situates emerging, morphing, and influential black musics in a broader framework of cultural, political, and social histories.
