Picked up cubase 8 pro about 2 weeks.. loving it! I have no idea why i kept using the cubase 5 version... Cubase 8 pro is a totally different world!!

this is awesome bro !!! i finally decided to go cubase 8 pro and im picking up an 8 Pro Edu edition from a retail store over here , almost 400euro cheaper than full retail ! wtf who is gonna prove my commercially released track was made on flstudio or cubase pro 8 (education edition prohibits you from using it for commercial releases until you pay for a normal upgrade to it). So this tut is sure gonna come in useful for all those ins & outs Today, 18:48


Are you a student, needing this for your study? You need to show your ID to buy it and to send a copy to steinberg for registration, otherwise you cannot use the EDU version.

The ONLY thing you need is an syncrosoft usb key and a regnr then you can use it
You DONT need to be online to use it so how can you send info if you dont have internet on your computer?

I guess i have to post it like we did 20 years ago and wait for Steinberg to answer with a letter saying plz use your EDU copy as much as you want..

It's all legal shmegal with the EDU versions. Lgally speaking, if you use an EDU version for commercial stuff and are not a student, to Steinberg, it is the same as using a warez version.

But do people ever get caught for it? I haven't heard.

My friend was studying for master engineer at the university. He had to send proof of being in school. ID, copy of grades, copy of entrance certificate etc. to Steinberg.

After this, and i'm not sure if steinberg really checks it, steinberg will activate you key.

Just saying it's not only just getting the EDU version from a retailer.

The shop may sell you the EDU version, but it's only one of the steps. You still need to prove it to Steinberg too by official papers.
