Hi guys. I wanna share this here cause it's a great documentary. Everybody who's into synths will get a kick out of watching this.
It's four hours loaded with modular synthesizer mania. All the history, interviews with cEvin Key, Carl Craig, Gary Numan, Vince Clarke, Trent Reznor and many more, lots of inspiration, FAT sounds and fun.

Cataly5t,
You had me at modular and then again at cEvin Key.

Yeah, cEvin Key is cool. He's even got a bit of that evil villain thing going, patting a cat on his knee :)
And I really enjoy hearing about the old guys back in the 60's who started it all. That's some truly kick-ass creativity to get inspired by keys

Sorry man, but my uploading speed was really killing me. It would've taken several days for me to put this on multiple hosts. And since I had to split the archive, I chose PL cause I figured that would make it possible for most guys to get it in an easy way. 'Fast and hassle-free' as Kook likes to say.
But I'd be very happy to see somebody help out with some UL mirrors mates

Thank you!

Too bad it seems to be a broken zip. I was really looking forward to seeing this tonight.

Baxter,

I double checked the archive before posting and checked again now, and it's fine. I can see that a lot of guys have DL'd this so if it was broken I think there would be a bunch of reports here already.
Did you get all 8 files named IDOW.HC.EDT.zip.001 to .008 ?
What system are you on and what app do you use to open the archive?

For anyone that's interested:

Freeware Multi-Platform File Splitter

This one works just fine to combine the Zips, most of all IT'S FREE.

Baxter are you using WinRAR because it can't open split zips. Why I have no fucking idea because it opens pretty much every other format. This functionality is built into Windows. Here's an article to help you out: How to Extract Split Zip Files You can also use HJSplit as was suggested by HAlleBnLilSis or dust off that copy of WinZip but your OS will take care of it for you. yes

Cataly5t mates wink

Thanks for helping out, guys. I suspected there could be some issues with split zips for PC, that's why I felt a need to make a special note about it in the OP. But since I've never needed to use any crossover apps to open archives I wasn't sure what to suggest in case of any problems.

If someone still would have problems, make sure all the split parts have exactly the same name (except for the segment number). Occasionally PL has been known to mess up a file name when you DL. If that happen you just rename that file to match the other parts.

That sounds like pretty much every night this time of year in my corner of the world.
If those cool guys hadn't invented synthesizers I would probably have gone insane during the long cold winters over here keys

I love winter, it's my favorite season. It never lasts as long as I wish it would. damn

You have me intrigued as to where you're from, don't feel the need to comment though. And no problem on the help, it would be a damn shame for anyone to miss out on this great upload. mates

I'm from the old viking countries, way up north in Scandinavia.
I actually like the changing seasons here, but when you only get like 2,5 months of summer and winter goes on for twice as long it can get to feel a bit too much sometimes. Especially when you're young and don't wanna spend all your free time in a thick layer of clothes, skiing and skating in the dark rofl
But I was lucky to find something that I really loved like music. That always kept me sane when I felt the most restless, bored or trapped, and pretty much all the good stuff in my life has happened through my connection with music.
And those sweet synthesizers was the stuff that turned me on to it phones

links are dead

I anticipated this, so I have a backup.
But then maybe we better figure something out because the backup will go down too? What do you say Cataly5t?

angelus_, check your PM.

Thanks for this one! Unfortunately i've missed a few parts, strangely enough my old account disappeared.
Even if i only work with softsynths this seems to be an inspiring movie, to tell from the trailer. The synths look exactly how i've imagined a superior machine(of any kind) as a child. Generally i think, the fascination with synths has a lot to do with the childs drive to play with machines.

zerf, check your PM.

And you're right, it is inspiring in a general sense. You can apply that creative and experimental mindset to working with computers also, or any kind of instrument really, not just synths.
BTW if that's a potato in your profile pic it's kinda funny, cause there's even a part in this film where they talk about using potatoes to control oscillators :)

I'am looking forward to see this part!

We have a few options on how to proceed next: I can try to get a contributor to mirror (links might keep going down though), we can privately share the links to anyone that comments here (then you should PM me your backup) or we can do the other thing. I wonder if the original link was reported or if their algorithm removed it. Really it's up to you man because either of these ways would work fine.

OK, I'll PM the backup to you right now. Does that mean I don't have to send any more PM's then to guys who comment?
And what about the OP, will you edit that to erase that peeplink and explain the private procedure, or should I do that?

before i`ve noticed my pm. iv'e tried the original links and they worked again.. Maybe it has only been a temporary issue.

I don't think so. When I check now it looks like 4 of the original 8 links are dead.

We can also do the other option if you want, I'm fine with that or I'll ask for a mirror from someone. If you want to go the private PM route then I can send it out since I'm on here more than you.

And I get where you're coming from concerning winter being so much longer than summer. It's one of those things where it's better until you're dealing with it every year. rofl

Considering that the latest comments here were from basic members I think PM route would be nice, I sent the backup to you.
But AFAIC it would also be great to have a contributor mirror so maybe you should check that first, I guess that would be easiest for everybody?

Anyhow I gotta go offline now, will check back in about 10 hours from now wink
