Fab discusses compressing a vocal without ruining it.

Chapters:
-Concept and workflow setup
-Standard Avid Compressor
-Threshold vs Ratio
-Attack vs release
-Low level passages handling
-Automation vs compression

The attached zip file contains the stereo instrumental and raw vocal tracks of the song.

Please download it and import the files in the DAW you use to make music (any software will do really!) This way, you can improve your mixing skills and transparently compress this vocal track using your own compressor.

tongue LMFAO all kiding aside here, just another "Protools" Fool who has well over a hundred thousand dollars in hardware and look at me I am a pro I use Protools. F OFF man drop using that ancient crap!!, look at the pans LMFAO no dual panners, no split panners, really ancient panners on that thing

At least now it's been cracked solid and like I promised I would run it for a few minutes and never use it again and I did that. All hype just like I expected .

It amazes me every time that people seat here on Audioz acting like they know better. I mean, really? As if somebody would be impressed and give them the Talk Shit Award of the year.
If they were near successful to the people they criticizing, I'd entertain the fact they can talk about that person. However, they ain't close, and ranting on Audioz won't make them neither.

Yes indeed instead of going against Hypped up crap people defend it, look at the music industry these days, it is these FOOLS who are pushing it in the Crap ass direction that it's in. Look at some of the "Artists" you named on there that explains what this "enginner" is a total douche who can't do shit without the hardware.

That is why I meantioned WTF is the point of him even demoing this shit in Protools, any Daw out does the same. Some people are just fools that is how the world works, Concerts becoming a 40 minute dance show. People showing Protools like it's the on Daw, LOL avid must be getting desperate these days as they REIGN IS OVER!! get over it man Protools is a dead reign.

There is no music industry and those fools you admire helped to kill it and make into a live dance routine that is our music these days .. well Gangnem is your boat I guess.

coolios,
Bro, please, stop it. Pro Tools is just a choice Fab made and stick to it, just like you, who choose to use something else. That's about it, easy like 1, 2, 3. I'd tell someone else the same about you: Listen, Coolios made his choice, you should respect it and let it be. There's not much sense for you to keep bashing a program that you don't use. Alright, whatever, you don't use it, fine and move on bro.
If I open a tutorial on Audioz and realize that the instructor is not using my (favorite) DAW then I skip it and keep it moving. There are enough tuts out there covering almost anything we would want to know in different DAWs. So, what's the fuss?
The title is about Vocal Compression. Alright, there are other tuts on here made about Vocal Compression in different DAWs. Cool, you don't like how it sounds, you don't like Fab techniques and how he applies the compression? Well, nobody has to like it, I may don't like it either, but you know what? we all have that freedom to delete it from our HD and keep looking (or wait) for one that we'd like better.
Come on bro, Avid gonna carry on with Pro Tools just like Steinberg carry on with Cubase, just like Cakewalk carry on with Sonar, etc... It is what it is, make your choice and ignore what you don't like.

One thing we can all agree on in a debate about Dupont though, hate is work or not, hate the artists he has worked with or not: He is an accomplished Producer/Engineer with a track record to prove it. So, we can all agree even at the lowest level that the guy knows a thing or two about the audio world. He doesn't have to be a favorite for us to give him his credit.

On that end, please, keep using what you use and make the best of it. Music will be music, make yours and make it your way and one day we will see some of your releases and credits start popping out in the industry, hopefully. until then, peace.
