John Mehegan was the man behind the department popular and jazz music in 'Juilliard School' in NY.

In which department of music closed a long time ago, some say that it was much questioned, if it was worth recreating what famous jazz musicians did. In such methods, they were recopying the style of each one, which would eventually produce Jazz musicians in series, good enough to play in restaurants.
Being that the whole process of Jazz happened naturally, with direct and indirect influences between the musicians themselves who did jazz at that moment, that time there were no books of improvisation or methods of harmony nor how the parts of big bands should be joined.
