Holistic, but individual self taste books that you'll never read. Mario, Pokemon and Bach.
I don't know the way of thinking of each countries, but some of them decide a list of things you must listen of read before you die,
I really prefer to think that it is for commercial purposes only, because no one can think or tastes for the others.
Of course listen to Bach is a much high experience, but you don't need him to play your guitar.
Remember that the German 'Hugo Riemann' abandoned him self his own project of "New Harmony", he perceived that he fails, but poor people around far far away teaches that and publishes new books about the failed theme. In all universities in Europe, Germany, France, USA, Japan, teacher talk about to never use Riemann.
