gadgets' music, DAWs and plugins for Pads, Adroids are NOT SERIOUS! Bullsh=-=t!
I think Pad is useful only as controller, additional device, or smth like this, but not as "studio gear/device that will kick computer's ass"! It's just a toy for pleasure as well.

Hopefully some of the innovations will leak over to the laptops/desktops with fully implemented version of gadgets and such.

But iPad/laptop is good for quick demos and easy to to take it with you when your away from home..
And don´t forget that we said the same thing when computers first was introduced as studio option instead of tape machines.
(Well there is still a few people who refuse to use a computer in their studios) i bet in 10-20 years almost nooen will have a "real" computer (i still think laptop is a gadget) when they make music

lol you guys sound like the same people that said "that there electric guitar (especially electronic violins heaven forbid) and those nu fangled drum machines aren't real music, it'll never catch on

not forgeting the old classic "making music on a computer? haha do me a favor, it'll never catch on" etc etc.... hehe

As we all know, it's just a smaller screened keyboard less laptop that is actually easier to control & select on screen items due to its touch sensitive screen so stick it with a 2,3,4,5, 6! of those funky little korg nano's and you have a very capable portable machine.
And far more powerful than a lot of the pc's used a little under 10 years ago and they were quite capable then (with some bouncing), & the iPad could happily eat 10 of those ppc based macs... I could happily run reason rewired to abletons on my g3 700mhz imac back then... so can an iPad.
If there hasn't already been a chart entering tune juiced purely on an ipad there soon will be.

ps I'm just pulling legs, I'd be buggered if I'd buy 1 for music but if I went to india or wherever for a few months hell yeah would I want 1 with me (and a korg nano or 3 :)
