Man in the Music: The Creative Life and Work of Michael Jackson, 2nd Edition screenshot
English | August 27th, 2019 | ISBN: 0525566570 | 544 Pages | EPUB | 12.72 MB
For half a century, Michael Jackson's music has been an indelible part of our cultural consciousness. Landmark albums such as Off the Wall and Thriller shattered records, broke racial barriers, amassed awards, and set a new standard for popular music. While his songs continue to be played in nearly every corner of the world, however, they have rarely been given serious critical attention.

The first book dedicated solely to exploring his creative work, Man in the Music guides us through an unparalleled analysis of Jackson's recordings, album by album, from his trailblazing work with Quincy Jones to his later collaborations with Teddy Riley, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Rodney Jerkins. Drawing on rare archival material and on dozens of original interviews with the collaborators, engineers, producers, and songwriters who helped bring the artist's music into the world, Jackson expert and acclaimed cultural critic Joseph Vogel reveals the inspirations, demos, studio sessions, technological advances, setbacks and breakthroughs, failures and triumphs, that gave rise to an immortal body of work.

I'm not convinced Michael Jackson was guilty of the charges made against him. He was trying to free himself from the master-slave system that he was a part of for so long. It became very acrimonious. The forces that control the world's news media can ruin anyone's reputation. Look at Bill Cosby. He may have been a bad boy in some ways, but he, like most celebrities, generally get away with incredibly bad behavior for their whole careers (if it's their thang). Why are these changes happening recently? Something is going on.

Oh no!! This is political and Olymoon does NOT like political statements. Or at least MINE that have to do with racism/white supremacy. When you ask the question of why Michael was vilified and why Bill Cosby is in prison(when the Weinstein "types" are not), THERE'S your answer. Oooops! Now I've done it. This thread is bound to be deleted NOW. HaHa!!!

Talented but tortured soul who unfortunately didn't live as himself.
That failure leaked into a darker personality flaw, that is quite evident
once you pull back the curtain. Got to interact with him circa late 80's early 90s, in LA, and there's no way you'd ever mistake him for a straight man. Period. Let's just say that 'Leaving Neverland' came as no surprise to folks in the business. Understandably, fans, will have a harder time excepting the disturbing facts about MJ.

Fans know the truth for decades. They know all the details of accusations. They don't eat a fake documentary.

I figured him as being strange and eccentric. There was awlful abuse from his father against all the children. That coupled with an unhealthy show biz lifestyle. Jury is out on the worse stuff as I don't trust the ones controlling the narrative. If you knew even half...
Edit: I'm not a fan, but I know some things, background stuff.

Interesting how this book turns into a comment sections about his character.
My opinion: whatever he has done doesn't erase his accomplishment. But I know not everyone agress with that. Whatever though, thank you for the release.

All he did that was a crime in Amerikkka was to be born BLACK. Not one of the kids he ALLEGEDLY molested collaborated with their greedy parents' and the prosecutor's claims of him being a pedophile.

Absolutely, people seem more interested in the morbid aspect than in his music..

If by "morbid aspect" you mean character assassination and legacy destruction, then yes. being lifelong fans of his, we are deeply hurt by what he had to go thru. When I came to this page, I didn't see ANY of this e-book's contents published HERE so NATURALLY the comment section is going to be discussing him rather than talking about an e-book that we haven't read YET. And to be clear, a "book" didn't turn into a "comment section". But let me check to be sure..... Yep, the book is STILL a book. There's no magic here. Nothing here but fans of the King of Pop. If you're NOT one, that's ok. Really, I mean that. I'll tell you a secret: I don't like that racist, culture-appropriating, son-of-a-bitch named Elvis Presley.

My English might not have been clear enough, what I meant is that people will use the opportunity of this release to comment on the person.

If you're asking WHY, WHY, WHY we reacted in that manner, Michael told me to tell you that it's human nature. Heh heh....................................... I'll wait a little longer for the folks in the back............................................................................................................

So I guess that means that WE'RE ALL HUMANS here that wanted to defend the character of a maliciously and WRONGLY accused GENIUS of our time who's not even ALIVE to defend himself from soulless, fading celebrities whose "relevance hourglass" has almost dropped it's LAST few granules of sand.

For the folks in the back.......

oh michael jackson music book ?
we know quincy jones was a major force behind him in the 80s then he went to
produce his own songs on just recording
a beat boxing then add kick/drums/high hats/ as layers after layers
then create a bass/chords/pads/vocals on top of those layers
he was a true Genius before those shitty producers around him ruined his own style
and he lost total control over his own music style, they are the ones hold him back from
creating a better albums after 1995

RIP M.J
living in the 80s is good thing
