Treatise On Harmony - Jean-Phillipe Rameau screenshot
English | 2012 | 491 pages | EPUB | 18 MB
The Traité de l'harmonie of Jen-Philippe Rameau is one of the most important books in the history of Western music. Written while Rameau was still a relatively obscure organist and music master at Clermont-Ferrand, the book received but one printing during Rameau's life, in 1722, shortly before he settled in Paris. The Traité was immediately recognized as a profound advance in musical theory, however, and it established Rameau's reputation as a theorist. His book was the first to codify those principles of tonality that were to dominate the music of the West for almost two centuries. Even today the theories of Rameau remain the basis for the study of harmony.
Rameau's Traité de l'harmonie is divided into four books, the first of which presents the mathematical basis from which Rameau sought to derive his theories. Book Two may be considered the most important section of the Traité; in it Rameau generates his entire harmonic system from fundamental principles, explaining intervals, chords, and modes — everything, in fact, essential to musical composition in tonal style. Working from the principles developed in Books One and Two, Book Three treats the practical rules of composition, including such topics as harmonic modulation and chord progressions. Book Four concerns the practical art of accompaniment on harpsichord or organ, including the realization of a figured bass. Corrections added by Rameau in a supplement are included in the text, and all the musical examples have been reset in modern musical notation. In addition, two pages from a unique copy of the first issue of the first edition are given in facsimile. The translator's introduction discusses the history of the work, Rameau's mathematics, and his place in the history of music theory.

The majority of unpackers do not support the new RAR5 format. You will receive an error message when you try to open it, and there is usually no way to integrate it manually into the application to add support for it.

So, the only feasible option right now is to install Winrar 5.x on your system if you want to use a graphical user interface. Note that this is a trial version, and while it won't stop working after the trial runs out, it will nag you to upgrade the software.

You know those chords you play inverted on your guitar, yeah, know that it was this Frenchman who left everything ready and thought for you since the beginning of the eighteenth century. We owe him when we do a chord inversion on your guitar, keyboard or the orchestra to the entire Big Band.

Think how much this man suffered, he was threatened with death in France and almost was thrown into the fire if he had not been portrayed, luckily, he had already published his book which has spread to the whole world for our lucky.

If it weren't Rameau, perhaps there would be another system for Music Harmony that would certainly be much more complicated or cabalistic, and as we know what a tradition ever wins, it would not be easy to escape what millions of weak mental teach and think, so we would have more difficulty doing calculating.
Being that it is much simpler to change the position of the notes in the chord and with this you build very diverse and different harmonic sounds.
Well, 'drop 1,2,3 & 4' already exists for centuries, but, it didn't have that name.

It is good to remember that it was only Rameau's perception, therefore, there is no Music Harmonic System of Rameau. Arnold Schoenberg follows this same path.

Is so simple, all the music as we write and read today, is pure and simple an empirical process, took centuries to be ready and had the hand and intellect of many important people, and why no one has ever been able to bring it down, has a force more than spiritual in all this empiricism, which is the unique global writing that the whole planet follows.
Otherwise they say that music is a universal language, and that Latin word "language" refers to everything that comes through the tongue. Language in English started to be used for several things that encompass communication, such as computer language, since it would be correct to write computing writing.
The word language could be in English; tonguage, which is directly related to human tongue, and we choose with caution what has left from the human language to this day.
Music is more than language, never needed a tongue, strikes anyone by its nature without words.
