DIY: The Rise of Lo-Fi Culture [2nd Edition] by Amy Spencer EPUB screenshot
2008 | Marion Boyars Publishers Ltd | ISBN: 0714531618 | 3 MB | EPUB
This exploration of lo-fi culture traces the origin of the DIY ethic to the skiffle movement of the 1950s, mail art, Black Mountain poetry, and avant-garde art in the 1950s. It follows the punk scene of the 1970s and 1980s to the current music scene. It charts the development of music outside of the publicity machine and examines the politics behind the production of “homemade” recordings and publications.

this book doesn't seem to be about lofi as a genre at all.
it seems to be about grunge recording at home of any music at all.
I only skim read it, but very disappointed I even spent that long on it.

Yes, It's about low fidelity culture as a whole, and sincerely I don't know if there are some good references on Lo-Fi music as a genre, but I'll do an advanced search on the subject.
