I hate having to use bloated software like iTunes to sync too.

I use JRiver Media Center to sync my iPod, and it works perfectly.

You could give it a try - as iTunes is really intolerable on a PC.
If you need a link, send me a PM.

I get where your coming from and like I said I totally respect that mates . I myself didn't want to get into this whole Mac and PC crap of an argument, but I felt the Mac beggars weren't doing us "cool/reasonable" Mac guys justice. So I had to throw in a more reasonable point of view into the mix. Either way, hope all you PC guys are enjoying this fine release and remember to not feed any more Mac trolls or beggars that decide to come by this side of AudioZ.

Kookaboo

Thanks for recognizing my approach to the whole PC and Mac argument and also for your awesome releases. I feel that sometimes a few stupid Mac users mess it up for us good open minded Mac guys.

Peace and love AudioZ fam

Cataly5t, Kookaboo and everyone else. They are all just computers. The crackers release what they can when they can. There is no difference between mac or pc when it comes down to the music and creativity. I can't imagine that the crakers respond to any of the "mac too", or "pc too" posts anyway, but simply release what they can when they can. I personally am grateful to any releases here whether mac or pc. It's not necessarily one or the other.

MAC USERS/PC USERS: Why did MAC switch to Intel processors? As far as "reliability" we are making music.. not surfing the net. If you're searching the net mid-production to find another dubstep loop or mixing tips music isn't for you anyway. Simply put.. processing power, ram allocation, OS optimization, and storage management is the root to "reliable music creation" in a PC/MAC domain. To use a Desktop and not a Macbook is wise. Split the read/write tasks between SSD's and have 8tb storage for anything not moving if music is all you do. The so-called CPU Hog plugins are usually the best ones. Fortunately, they don't hog everyone's CPU and are used heavily by some during pre and post production. Available ram is not even a topic to discuss when it comes to Win Ult 64bit -vs- program memory usage. Whatever domain you work in.. if it's set to process full portions of a mix without bouncing every other track it maintains an edge that's very noticeable to the ear. The arguments are shallow between the two.. metaphorically Win and OSX are rooms the same band can set up in. wink

Can somebody please close the comment function for this thread. Alternatively activate some kind of White/Black list for words like OSX/MAC/WIN/BETTER/HATE/SUCK etc. yes

MAC vs. PC = Nikon vs. Canon :)

As I love photography, it's my second hobby, same things... I have Nikon, but there is a war betwen Nikon and Canon users :) ha ha

Lion vs. Snickers chocholate, toilet paper Zeva vs... who knows.

It's only important to have fun and make some great music at the end, and being happy with it.

... oh, I forgot, I have PC workstation and MacBook too...

MAC is great (but 6gb ram, coreduo etc... ), PC is great too (but 6gb RAM, quad-core), but if you spend some euros more and invest in RAM, HDD, power CPU etc...

Most of people are opsessed by MAC stations, but if you see characteristic you will see powerfull machines, and it's too expensive for that reason.

If you test true equivalent PC, there will be same results.

Just like the software side... MAC has Logic windows hasnt. MAC has Ultrabeat WIN hasnt and etc...

Some software are writen primary for MAC and then ported on WIN, so because of that it better work on MAC platform. Some are writen on WIN so better work on WIN etc...

What about Linux users, it must be angry a lot :)

Mac is just unix based system, windows as well (only thing is "\" instead of "/" in prompt) :)

Truely speaking, my Ableton work better on PC besides of MAC installation, but it's only because of performances (core-duo vs quad-core) :)

Finally, best regards

Don't know how you managed it to run...
I have XP-SP3 and it doesn't install on XP,
because NI now only supports Windows 7 and 8.

I tried to install it and it says it needs at least Windows 7.

But I was able to install the 4.0 version and then extracted
the .ddl and .exe from 4.0.1 and it runs smooth and stable for me.

Someone here asked for new presets/kits in the update,
but I didn't extract those and I didn't find any.

So far I don't need them.
The ones installed from the Factory-Library are working and more then enough.

Battery 4 is really amazing and the only sampler that really rocks.
Love the new interface and included effects !
The browser is fast and easy too( no not like Live9's mess no )

Worth the money and something I like to buy in near future.

Honestly, I'm getting real sick of developers not allowing installs to work on older operating systems that still have a prominent market share. If the computer physically can run the application then let it install. If they don't want to support it then they could just put up a disclaimer that they only provide support for Windows 7 & 8. I mean what is the big fucking deal? dunno

I would just overwrite the 4.0 .exe and .dll files but there are a few versions of them and there are many other files included so it would take a long time to find the appropriate places to put them. This is simply ridiculous nonsense when Native Instruments could have easily allowed XP users to run the installer. It's interesting that the 4.0 somehow installs with no problem but the update has this requirement. For anyone interested in the preset files they are located in the subfolder entitled OFFLINE under one of the many folders in that parent folder. A lot of them are FX presets with the extension .nbfx but there is also a cell preset with the extension .nbcl. Good luck to anyone wading through this mess on XP.

I disagree that Battery is the only sampler that really rocks. Kontakt and Geist are two that spring to mind immediately. Geist is very powerful and has a nice sequencer, killer sampler, great fx, etc. There is stuff there that Battery is still lacking in and some features are better implemented in Geist. A company will always rave that their product is the next best thing since sliced bread. However, there are very few game changers.

Kontakt is too bloated and more a instrument sampler.
Geist is very slow when browsing.
Geist has features I don't need and is CPU hungry.

I don't need a built in sequencer or groove.
Have the DAW for that and only use the DAW's groove function.
I need quick workflow and efficient low CPU drain.

Battery 4 is straight, simple and quick to use.
Because of the easy and quick workflow, Battery 4 is the better choice for me.

It just sits right for me... yes

I only wish I could load Kontakt drums like StudioDrummer and others.
It was possible in Battery 3... dunno ..., have to go through the manual...!

cheers,
cf

People use Macs for various reasons.
I've owned both and Window OS computers haven't been the ones I enjoyed using the most.
No matter who made them. That's just me.

Most top recording artist, and professional studios I know, like and use the convenience of a Mac and use it for handling their creative duties. This doesn't mean Window devices aren't "hardware" capable, but most preferred the OS/Hardware of a Mac.
The "Get a PC" undercurrent that engages a few here, often falls flat as
95% of popular apps make their way over to Mac -Land in little to no time at all.

People use the device that are right for them.
The rate of cracked software feels like a rather pathetic argument to own a PC. rofl

the libraries of 3 and 4 have a little bit of overlap, but 4's library does not encompass 3's. so if you were using factory content from 1, 2 or 3 don't delete battery 3.

secondly battery 4 has a some amazing new features such as the browser, buses, better automation, 'render cell in place' option, better effects, improved missing samples dialog and side chain compression.

also the aax version does not work "Pro Tool coud not load the following plug-ins either because no valid authorization could be found..." i don't use pro tools for composing so it's not a biggie for me, just wanted to let you know.

We never said the rate of cracked software is why people should go with a PC that's just what you heard. We said that there is a greater availability of any kind of media (applications, games, etc.), cracked or otherwise. You also seem to have glossed over the plethora of valid reasons I stated from price, customizability, interface and user base to the fact that Apple acts like a bunch of corporate Nazis to their employees and customers. I'll say it for the last time: NOBODY CARES WHAT COMPUTER YOU USE!!! Trust me we all have better things to do than waste our time on useless endeavors convincing anyone to switch to a PC. Our problems begin when Mac people hijack PC threads to post their Mac Please and ridiculous comments about how Macs are the greatest thing since sliced bread. The worst thing is that those opinions are not based on any facts whatsoever but rather just a bunch of misinformation from Cupertino whereas I gave much support for my point of view concerning PCs.

That makes "Mac pleeease" posts in PC threads even more ridiculous, doesn't it?

As a reminder, that was what started the whole PC vs. Mac discussion here (as always).

A Mac is a Mac!
even when playing anything that could be appended in whatever piece of plataform
the carcases are relevant (!)

and when hours are spent in contact with that hardware,
the super-minimalistic hiss of the machines is relevant too !
Mac users deserve a battery update;)
