You know, professionals using a PC in a studio don't use it to watch porn, and don't install thousands of toolbars and "helper software" on it.

And guess what, a PC is just as stable as a Mac (or even more), if you use some common sense when using it.

Anybody not getting the point, that HE is misplaced here, when spamming a PC thread with Mac comments, and not the guys who remind him of that, should seek for mental assistance.

I see the same pattern in all these threads: After 2-4 Mac comments, some (more or less) unfriendly comments come from the users (rightly so), which causes the Mac guys to whine about the "sooo unfriendly PC users".
They are not unfriendly because they use a PC, but BECAUSE YOU SPAM THE FUCKING THREAD.

I would not get involved in debates like this either as they are about as stupid as which DAW is best. However, when people keep posting Mac Please and ridiculous statements about how Macs are better for everything in the PC section day after day after day eventually it gets annoying. When I look at a post I want to be able to see the experience of users that have already installed the software not people begging as if that somehow is going to make Mac software suddenly appear. I'm sure you would feel the same way if you had to deal with PC please comments in your Mac posts. Personally I don't like Macs as I am a power user and I feel that the benefits of a PC far outweigh any minuses that come with it for the more inexperienced users. The negatives are really of no concern to power users because they are able to deal with any issues that might arise and I customized my PC to just the way I like it. People claim that Macs can't get viruses which is simply not true and I haven't gotten a virus in more than a decade. Windows 7 was a really secure OS and Windows 8 has really upped the ante. The only reason that it seems that PCs are more vulnerable to infiltration is because Apple still has a small market share so they are not a big target. If someday they were more prevalent I can guarantee you that malware writers would have more incentive to start attacking the Unix variant that Mac is based on. Part of the security problems have to do with the notion that Apple and its users have that it is bulletproof and this is simply ludicrous. In fact just recently Macs were hit with a massive trojan called Flashback that caused a lot of problems and Apple's response was less than adequate. Had those people known that all computer systems are vulnerable they would have had anti-virus software installed. This mentality really leaves them open to future problems.
I also don’t like Apple because they have this our way or the highway mentality and it gets on my nerves. They try to control every aspect of what you can do with products that you bought with your hard-earned cash. I own an iPhone and an iPad and I feel like it's really not me that owns them. I hate having to use bloated software like iTunes to sync too. I also don't like the conditions at some of their factories. Workers have committed suicide and there were some revolts. Apple was also accused of manipulating NAND flash memory prices a few years ago. I just never like what I read about this company in the news. Macs might seem to work better but that is only because they have a set preconfigured hardware and software package that is tightly controlled by Apple. If they sold Windows with only a few choices for computer models and components I am sure that it would work just as well. The fact that there are many security updates on Windows is a very positive aspect as Windows has in the last few years become incredibly robust and secure. In fact the NSA was very involved in the development of Windows 7. If Windows is inwardly closed in terms of source code I am sure you can understand that the company put a lot of time and effort into its development so they deserve to make money on it. People loyal to Apple also seem to have this elitist attitude that is based on misinformation. I really don't care what operating system people choose to use so long as they are not trying to shove it down my throat in a section made for people on PC. Anyway all the best man. mates

lyric8
All that can be mitigated with a good anti-virus/anti-malware suite coupled with common sense, timely updates to relevant system and 3rd party components and a solid backup strategy. wink

The 4.0 installer works on XP and can be installed.
After install extract the .dll and the .exe from the 4.0.1 update .iso
and replace those with the ones in the Battery 4(exe) and vst(dll) folder.

I did so too and it works fine.

First of all it's not just me that's getting annoyed by Mac please posts so don't make this a personal vendetta. I'll tell you what...I will never be mean about this topic again all that I ask is that people have a little respect by not posting things that are sure to make other members mad. You seem to think that somehow Mac people have a right to annoy everyone in the PC section but suddenly they invoke morality when they get a less than desired response. This is a recurring problem time and time again so it's not as if you don't know that useless begging is going to make everyone angry. You just choose to ignore that fact and act like somehow we're the bad guys. If I post PC please in your Mac section I give you permission to treat me in the same way, since honestly in that case, I would deserve it. However we both know that this won't happen because I, unlike some other people, actually have some respect and common sense. If we learn to respect the forums in this way I think you'll find that member interactions will be very different as this topic is a major point of conflict. Anyway I sincerely hope you have a good weekend. wink

If this is a possibility then the installer won't throw up an error that Battery needs to be previously installed. If you get such an error you will know that you need to install the 4.0 first. This should happen in the first stages of the installation wizard before the actual install takes place so you can cancel if necessary. If you're worried about download time then simply use RBolvari's high speed links on zippyshare:

Im gonna end the whole Mac vs. PC argument dance . Its all too simple and really easy to understand, but PC users can't get the drift of things and Mac users can't stop being so pretentious. The truth is that when you start moving up the ranks in the multimedia (e.g. Music and Film) world, you start to realize that pretty much everyone is on a Mac for some reason. I myself don't know or understand why, but if all these great successful individuals are using Macs, they can't be wrong. I myself had a PC for years and finally dished out the money for a Mac, best overpriced investment I ever made. Apart from reliability, people will for some reason take you more serious about whatever multimedia outlet you use to express yourself and sometimes that can be the difference maker. Overall In my opinion PC usage is good in the beginning, but as you keep progressing forward Mac will take you to the next level and if you don't like it, you'll learn to accept it.

Also, all those Mac folks asking for stuff on the PC section should know better. Only because releases like this will end up on Mac in a matter of a week or two as usual. The last thing we want is to bug the good people who take their time to provide us with awesome releases. You can always buy it if your that impatient for something that is ultimately handed to you at no charge.

Peace and love AudioZ fam mates

@ ghostinthemachine --- Phew, finally ONE with reasonable arguments! wink

I don't like those flaming wars between MAC & PC users at all, in the end both 2 are just computer systems, not more. The fact that PC stuff gets often cracked and released first doesn't mean relevant things. On the other hand PC-Crack-Teams seem to have more interest or urge to release their stuff, just because PC-users are actually more; only due to the fact that MAC's are still very expensive! This will change as soon as Apple will lower their (criminal!?) prices.

Millions of people listen to Britney Spears and Justin Bieber. Does that mean that they are a higher caliber of artist? The sheer number of people involved in a pursuit doesn't imply that it is a worthy endeavor. In fact I would wager, if anything, it's usually the opposite. If you're going to look at it that way then look at the fact that the Mac has like 6-8% market share and PCs have practically the rest of the pie. If Macs were so much better then why have they still not become a real competitor for the desktop and laptop market? I'm sure your answer would be price but that wouldn't account for such a difference so the average user must not be as compelled with the Apple experience as you are. Never mind that success has absolutely nothing to do with which operating system you choose to use. I think that a lot of producers are using Mac for the same reasons that a regular user lower on the food chain chooses Mac and a lot of that, in my opinion, has to do with misinformation. It is also a carryover from a time when Macs did excel over PCS at such tasks as audio and video production. Those days are long since gone and buried. People believe that Macs can't catch a virus, that the security is better and a million other lies perpetuated by Cupertino. In fact Apple just recently pulled all ridiculous claims that they were making about PCs after the last Flashback trojan fiasco and the other malware variants that hit Macs in the last year. I have had a PC for the entirety of my life and have yet to have a problem that I couldn't solve. As I've already stated I haven't gotten a virus in more than a decade. The computers I have used are nothing but reliable as I have put them through everything from programming to audio, image and video production.

If some pretentious studio is not going to take you seriously because you use a PC then they are obviously ignorant, misinformed and don't deserve your time or money plain and simple. I don't make choices in my computing environment based on what other people think. Come to think of it I don't make choices about anything based on what other people think. I think it all depends on your usage scenario and whether you are responding to the interface of whatever platform you choose just like when you choose a DAW. For me Mac has to be the ugliest, most inefficient and unintuitive GUI I have ever used in my life and it doesn't jive with my workflow one bit. Then again I am a power user and I know what I am doing in all areas of computing so any inherent issues that may arise from using a PC are out the window. If you're a beginner and you don't care that there isn't as much software, customizability, you don't mind the price difference and you like the Mac interface then by all means plunk down the extra money for a Mac. I find ownership of a PC unrestricted in all areas of computing while with Mac I feel that there is only so much I can do, install, customize, etc. In the end there is nothing to solve because there is no conclusive answer to this question. It is the same as when you choose your DAW. You try it out and see if it jives with your workflow. Finally let me state that I wouldn't have even been involved with this conversation if 3 or 4 people didn't start with the Mac Please comments and started spewing misinformation about how Macs rule the world. If you're going to be making false claims then you should expect that someone may challenge you on it. It's just like walking into a Mac forum and saying Macs suck...you're just asking for problems. I'll reiterate that I couldn't care any less what operating systems people choose to use. Really. no

Phew, finally ONE with reasonable arguments! wink

Are you kidding? Really dude? I listed a MILLION different valid points on every aspect of Macs, PCs and Apple backed with hard evidence including not 1...not 2...but 3 articles detailing everything I talked about in my ESSAY and you actually have the nerve to say that? For you price, availability of software, customizability, security issues, Apple's shady dealings with its workers and the million other things I mentioned don't stand up as legitimate reasons to not own a Mac but the fact that some elitist studio might not want to work with you because you own a PC and reliability (which PCs have too) are valid reasons to own one? I bet if someone else had said that you would have had a totally different reaction. Or maybe you just liked ghostinthemachine's response better because in the end Macs came out on top. Honestly, It's a little disconcerting to me that you didn't find one valid argument in my response.

No PC beggars here. Only reason this Mac vs. PC bullshit started was because Mac usere came in here begging for software and making false claims about how Mac is king of the world. It gets annoying after having this happen day after day so I said something. I'll reiterate it one more time: I could care less what operating system people use. I respect what you have to say, but I have no Idea why you went on so much about the specs between the two,the GUI aspect of it, malware claims, or even the share of Mac within the competitive market. All Im saying is that in the world of recording and most film projects, Macs are very much present and chosen over PC's. I don't think its a case of being misinformed about the two. To be honest, its more about finding what works for individuals, and at the moment Macs work for me. Things don't become standard overnight, its all a trial an error thing. So by trial and error Mac has risen to the top of many creative fields in this world, to the point that you can call Mac an "industry standard" in many fields. In the end its all a preference thing and both can do just about the same thing.

Macs don't run the world, they just help drive the creative side this planet has to offer.

Rather than just say that I don't like Macs I gave some valid reasons why this is so. I am a power user so maybe I am a little technical but you mentioned reliability and this usually relates to prevalence of malware infection. I thought it was import to dispel some myths and in order to do so I needed to delve deep. Market prevalence has a huge impact on susceptibility to malware infection as the only reason that PCs could be construed as more unreliable is because they are a bigger target. If Apple's market share were suddenly 90% you could be sure to see a million different exploits faster than you could blink. However, since they occupy such a niche market people don't bother wasting time coding to infect only 6% of computers. Therefore it's not that Apple is more reliable but that it is simply more obscure. That was the point in my extended commentary. The GUI comments were simply an example to put forth as to why the OS doesn't jive with me. Honestly, I wish the conversation was never brought up in the first place because arguing about this makes about as much sense as arguing that Pro Tools is the industry leader and better than every other DAW. Most studios may use Pro Tools but I personally can't stand it. It all comes down to individual preference and for me I would rather use a calculator than use a Mac. Everyone else can make up their own mind.
