im not part of the BIG scene but i respect everyone who brings sum thing to this or any other site, people want stuff for FREE but more importantly NOW but we know sum things are good for us if we wait a weeeee bit long for it. I'm not even the important person to consider, I'm just carrying out the wishes of the scene. it's the fact that two of the most prominent scene teams said no and some douche went ahead and did it anyway (and badly I might add) because they were more interested in an ego massage for the attention whore they are than what the release will do to the developer. They somehow conveniently forgot that they depend on the scene and so I'm giving them a wake the fuck up douchebag call. So don't expect any C4TNIP releases from us for a while and it's a shame because I had some really nice stuff planned as well as an announcement. Right. The problem is 90% of people don't want stuff to use,
they want it to download, install, browse all presets and say oh cool,
be happy cause they can say now they have finally 67 synths, 390FX and 2800 Kontakt libs they can't even use cause they barely know what a LFO is, (chances they hardly find on their keyboard where the modwheel is ), and then leave it
taking dust somewhere. Its a disease.

C4TNIP is the team that released a bunch of nice stuff recently, didn't notice one of our releases at the top of the weekly top with 85 upvotes just a little while ago. Nerve was delayed for quite a while too when it came out and this release was no different. It's not about the note, it's about the fact that he worked hard on it, he's not a big company and the teams decided to not crack it and made their opinion public including a ton of members and I stood behind the decision. We went to great lengths to keep from leaking our copies, we never thought we had to actually worry about someone else leaking theirs but I guess because the protection was weak people just took advantage. I know something like that would never happen with anything with real protection like uhe because nobody can break that kind of stuff. It's just about how people don't respect the scene, they care only for what they can get from it and this is just a wake-up call that if you guys want to benefit from people's devotion in supporting your music for no benefit to themselves then you should really respect it's code and respect it's decisions. A lot of the teams have already been unhappy with the ungrateful nature of the common file-sharer because believe it or not they're also people. I never said nobody would get releases from some of us, I just said that we will use discretion in who those people are and we'll keep it internal.

i just wanted to know what C4TNIP ment as i dont have a clue.
also there where alot of bad things said to the uploader
of the torrent and the cr@cker what didnt seem far to me
who would do that we will never know ?
maybe there on drugs or something .

I'm sure it didn't seem fair to the devs either and NO time was even given at all. It was wrong so let's not support the folly of fools. You want to support the "team" and uploader that leaked it then go right ahead, hope they have some good stuff lined up for you. I heard they're working on something big, maybe even the 64-bit version.

There are lots of plugins cr@cked and posted on the frist day
some get maybe 1 hrs if there lucky,
this is x86 only and no mac and it ask for serial every few min,
so its not as bad as you make it out to be,

this is what i and others have to put up with in the real world

Yes some get cracked right away but that is up to the discretion of the teams to assess when something should be released, they know what they're doing. Some developers can take the hit but when something is released so early they might not be able to and it makes people too impatient when something anticipated doesn't work when someone releases it. It creates a crazy demand for a working version and then I'm running around having to delete a million posts, requests and people posting in threads asking for it. If I told you how many people tried to post that version or request a version it would blow your mind. I'm spending my day moderating just that one thing.

Also I don't even understand the point of the release if it doesn't work at all, then that's not a crack and it serves no purpose. And just to make you feel better I have Serum but I haven't even so much as installed it yet. I'm too busy right now to even do that so don't feel bad. Eventually it will be released and it will be a real working version. My point is why the rush? So much software around, look at all the gifts we received from R2R in the last day. We have this culture where content is consumed so quickly that there is no respect for the process anymore. People keep drinking that water and never really tasting it. So people wait a little on one plug. We've been waiting for years for some. What bothers me is that people don't respect the scene's wishes, a crack (working or not) should never have been shared. People should respect that the decision was made for a reason and it wasn't because we enjoy torturing you guys.

I wholeheartedly agree. Some people are so obnoxiously anxious to demand for software that they can't seem to wait for that the teams will decide to release at their own discretion for whatever reason. It always seems crazy to me how desperately people need some of this stuff. As if they aren't already on the greatest library of music software known to mankind and can't find any alternative to keep them busy for a while, knowing that the time will come when they will get exactly what they want.

Yeah man it's crazy. I actually had to take time out of my schedule to get this copy and run tests on it. Then there were so many posts, comments in unrelated threads and requests that I spent a lot of my week dealing with this issue. Of course this all could have been avoided if the person just didn't jump the gun and supported the decisions of the teams that they supposedly respect.

....it seems people haven't even gotten done installing Spire, let alone "learning" it, or at least even scrolling through some presets, before SERUMSERUMSERUM... I just don't know how I am going to even be able write a song until it is released....:).... Catalyst (christ, seems like I am a bootlicker here), is right again. Despite the gray area of using cracks and try before you buy, ... us musicians assume now that everything we release it out there everywhere in 2 seconds if you are fortunate enough that anyone even cares to DL it... It is far more classier to give the time space and some due courtesy to smaller devs like Steve Duda etc, because without it, we wouldn't be getting some of his amazing stuff, because why would he make it? 98% of the people downloading it weren't going to buy it in the first place, and will probably just exist on their drives for no reason.., so those are not really lost sales so much, but gotta give the guy a couple of weeks to make some money! and he is absolutely one of the classier acts out there. Waves etc., well they have burned enough bridges that guilt doesn't enter the equation as much. my 2 cents....

Hey I think it's good for people to hear that it's not just us with this opinion, that other members are coming out in support. A lot of us have stopped releasing over it to drive home a point that no means no. You want to crack something for your own personal use who are we to say anything but going out of your way to then share that is not cool when the teams that share their tireless efforts on a regular said that they aren't releasing to show support. Some teams are still releasing only because let's be real people at the top don't worry about lamers BUT I think had someone been successful and shared a working copy...that might change some minds. I'm not going to wait until that happens to do something about it. If a working copy of Serum is found shared anywhere there will be repercussions and they will last for quite a while. It will involve A LOT of teams and suppliers which means it will affect even those not participating in the strike. It's one of those win the battle lose the war scenarios.

And the arument that momo made that he's having a protest concerning water is sad but yet has no causal relation to this. Just because it's bad in your country it doesn't mean that your desire to try some new audio gear should outweigh your morality and the decisions of other teams. People have access to a library that most musicians only dream of here so there is no need to have this thing right this minute no matter the cost. It is a hard life being poor, you're not the only one here in trying circumstances. There are those that have straight up vanished and we've been waiting on word just to know they're alive...so what now should I chuck everything out the window and say Serum is the only thing that can save me? Come on.

..as a downstream user of this stuff, I completely agree, and there are lines to be drawn, and I'm actually happy that it has been. Sure, I would love to try out Serum, but even as a try before buy guy, I understand the picket line, the intentions involved, and the scabs that ruin it for the rest of us. The fact the C4TNIP has pulled back stuff, and the mods of this and other sites have chosen carefully how to approach this, should be a lesson to us "leeches"... It's getting repugnant that every post is met with "gimme more and NOW"(oh, and please can you back engineer the installer for snow leopard?! or aax? ..get real..)... Contribute something first, you can figure out how to do it. And if you can't make a production with what you have here, you are not worth anyones time or ears. Again, maybe I am sounding like I am towing the company line, but I get what they and the scenes are doing here, and honestly, it's refreshing. People take R2R, Hexwars, etc. far too much for granted.
