Input Gain
makes your sound loud ’n proud with the S950’s unique grit and warm distortion. It’s powerful and will help anything stand out in your mix.

Audio Bandwidth
controls the target sample rate and analog-to-digital conversion circuitry with an exquisite, yet remarkably subtle, aliasing effect.

Filter
controls the S950’s infamous steep low-pass filter. Use it on separate elements, or on any output bus or master section.

Brilliance
Adjust the Audio Bandwidth's high-frequency response with the Brilliance knob (in Settings/Back panel).

So, this is basically a "easy knob" 12-bit setup for boom bap hip hop producers. its basically like a cassette knob for lo-fi but 'digital'.. i'm sure plenty will put it through a lofi filter for even more 'vibes'.

Though you can get this sound with tons of other plugins and get even more unique and interesting results.. mix and match with EQs, saturators, comps, crushers..

Stop trying to sound the same. Do something unique.

Rx950 is more like a preamp with a filter and presence control. There's no down sampling in the normal way like the others plugs, and the artifacts it produces is unlike the grainy aliasing you hear in most bitcrushers.

So when I couldn't try this RX950 yet, I had fun with other plugins to see if I could find some good emulation results of my good old s900/950. I tested:
3 Airwindows in a chain: PurestConsolChannell/PurestGain/DeRez, D16 Decimort2, Tal-Dac, Plogue ChipCrusher, iZotope Trash, BeatSkillz SampleX, NI Bite, Klevgrand Degrader, Goodhertz Lossy, Joey Sturgis Tones Pixelator, ToneBoosters TimeMachine, Inear Display SicknDstroy, Unfiltered Audio Dent. An alt Airwindows chain: ulaw decode/fracture/powersag/DeRez/ulaw encode. Apart from Decimort, I also got interesting results with iZotope Trash, Plogue ChipCrusher, Tal-Dac, but most of all I was impressed with Pixelator. Airwindows is killer but a pain to create chains with its cryptically named plugins (in Ableton I made racks). Anyway, each of these plugins is interesting in its own way...
