As of right now, it doesn't require activation, i.e., it comes pre-activated. I think the developer is planning on adding manual activation in a later version.

LOL I get your point, but it's not a case if with todays technical means, people still appreciate and seek the sound of i.e. old "lo-fi" Akai MPC's DACs...

I wonder how a simple VST plugin like this can be 169MB big. Even if you include all the different formats for both OSes. Weird. I owned S950 and really liked the sound of it, although the sound editing was rather simple. I'll give this a whirl.

Dump the 96mb mac pkg from rar, and you'll be left with 75mb exe. And that is still overkill for one background, four "knob", one "button" and one "led" strip, small size, no internal preset store/recall management, vst2 32/64 only plugin package.

For reference, U-Hes Repro 1+5, with all the components "approximations".. and huge png resources.. "under the hood".. is (vst2/3, aax, 32/64, presets, manuals..) 33mb in size.

Comparing Repro in size to an analogue sampler is ridiculous; Repro's style of coding is a *far* simpler batch than that of an analogue emulation. Also, 75mbs (which is the size, despite whatever Majestic03 is talking about,) isn't a bad size, especially if you look at other companies emulations; they all run higher, from Slate to UAD.
All of that aside, I think this sounds pretty damn nice.
