Well I've just installed in on my regular W7 system, and both Standalone and VST version do install and seem to run Perfectly OK!

So yeah it may be one of those cases where official support is gone,
but new versions will keep workin on W7 until real system dependencies are missing or whatever..

-What doesn't seem to work is the Patch.
Both EXE and VST versions run as Demo, even tho I've unpacked the "full options" exe, and installed the "patched installer" manually.

But well this happened before with other KTK Bobdule releases,
so maybe there's something different on my system..
(unlike R2R versions which tend to work)

I will keep trying to Patch it, but at least we know the program/plug works allright.

anyway, regardless if you got working this release on Win7 or not, there is no reason to use a 13 year old OS. No more security patches is only one of the reasons, with every day more using Win7 you increase your chance to get a compromised system.
And before someone telling Win10 collect too much data - then throw away your smartphone first and then we speak again.
The only reason to work with Win7 would be if you use an essential software for your life, your firm, that doesn't work under newer Windows. But also then you should think about a newer software.

Well, I think it's actually the other way around..

Besides of the security updates,
(which you don't need if you work offline, or know how to properly secure the system..)
Or newer hardware compatibility,
(which you don't need unless you're using a very modern mobo/cpu/whatever..)
There's absolutely no reason to use W10/11..

It doesn't have any crucial extra features, and it doesn't Perform better,
but otoh it's got all the nasty problems of an unmanageable Windows Update,
and the messy dual Control Panel, where you've got two control panels for no reason etc..

The only real reason will be when KTK finally requires W10/11 to run,
or when an important library gets an important update..

But as we stand KTK still runs allright,
so by all means, with your permission I'm gonna keep using it..

I can understand idiots like you who are saying Windows 11 is bad and stick with Windows 7 even you never try W10 not to mention W11. Everything work for me on W11 like it was working before on W10 and before that on W7. That tells me people who are complaining are a bunch of idiots.

For me, and I'm heavily into IT, anything beyond XP is a disaster for audio actually. I could tell you tech stories about W7, too, but the big problem is nobody makes XP drivers any more... even W7 drivers.

I made tests on the same machine, with same Reaper, to check OS low latency audio performance and from W7 onwards the audio performance just degrades, no matter what some update freak tells you. :/

It also doesn't matter how powerful your PC is. Windows kernel sucks with multitasking the same way with Intel Core 2 duo E8400 or i9-12900K, with 4GB RAM or 32GB because it's a shitty OS which they make even shittier with each version. :(

Manufacturers are pushing us to update Windows version because they don't give a shit about musicians who only need a clean [no background tasks, esp. AV, we should use real time kernel which will never happen with Microsoft], lean, fast, and stable OS for making our tunes. :(

I don't need Cortana, Windows Store, 200 different services, antivirus, unwanted updates, terrible and complicated file manager, tons of useless features that only slow you down etc. etc. I just want to make tunes, fullscreen, without any interruptions. Ideally, I would like to boot directly into Reaper!

What security do you need with an OS without internet, running DAW with VST plugins and a bunch of audio programs only? What does it matter?

Thank Crom huge amount of developers still check compatibility with W7 and like Guitarmaniac said - it's absolutely stable and no problems whatsoever, ever. I like to think about it as my "audio OS". I do some video editing in it, too, though.

For Internet I have latest Linux with latest patches, fixes, whatever. So I'm not behind times or something, just using different OSes for different purposes. It's for the best to have an OS for audio work only and another OS for browsing and fun [Linux is good for gaming too].

I didn't knew the audio engine worsened from XP to W7,
and actually thought the wasapi thing improved it..

But yeah, I also envision my Upgrade going towards another direction: Linux.

If KTK supported it natively, that will be a very good reason to put on the list.

Then it seems there's methods to make Win/Mac VST plugs run OK in Linux,
but yeah, Stability is a big concern if you work professionally,
so I don't know if those methods are mature enough for a definitive swap..

But yeah, the day Every Win/Mac VST can Reliably run in Linux,
that will be another good reason for the definitive swap..

The only reason I see for going W10/11 atm is basically modern hardware.
I don't think the latest Ryzen mobos will have W7 drivers,
so that will be the main reason if I ever license this FX8350 system..

KTK requiring W10 would be a very strong reason too,
but since it still works on W7, we're safe for now

MS added another audio layer between OS and audio hardware in W7 and implemented WASAPI which is not bad for a user without ASIO driver. Thus they needed to implement separate Audio Service and Multimedia Scheduler service, to make audio work better for a common user [that use and like application mixer]. That thing reminds me of infamous Pulseaudio in Linux... it is just a hindrance and completely useless for pro audio. You'll see. I'm using Linux more and more for audio lately. Interesting to compare... and lacking so many plugins. :(

However, all that additional MS shit is just a hindrance when you have a normal, pro ASIO audio interface with a normal, good quality ASIO driver. It does help with badly written audio driver causing blue screens, though, and that's what matters for normal users who don't use RME, Audient, MOTU, Focusrite...

you shouldn't believe all what people telling you in forums. W10 is absolutely stable and with my X570 board and a Ryzen 3700X there are no performance issues audio-wise at all. And this is by far not the most powerful CPU you can have. I even can't remember when I saw the last time a BSOD on my screen. And I use this machine for everything, work, games, audio, browser surfing etc. Things have changed, some 10-15 years ago I also had a dedicated DAW machine but nowadays it is simply not necessary because today's CPUs simply have excess of power. And yes you are right, for this board there are no Win7 drivers anymore, so YOU can't participate in the performance of today's CPU's. And no, Win7 wasn't stable as Win10.
Also the fairy tale "my DAW doesn't need Internet" etc blabla...sure you can copy every piece of shit on an USB stick and then copy it to your DAW, Very funny specially with the 50 GB libraries you can download here.
So the story of the everlasting Win7 is just completely absurd.
If you're masochistically inclined and like to lock yourself out or limit yourself from today's opportunities, then go ahead with Win7. For everyone else, I recommend getting a newer OS.

Who could run on win7?

I know there is non-installer option for Win10only plugins (for example, AOM Factory latest 1.12.0 can be run on Win7 thru non-installer option, by drag and drop dll/vst3 into vst plugins folder), but still..

Tons of other devs aswell you can even use the installer on alot of them
To my knowledge only a few devs has installer that refuse to start on win 7 even if it says win 10 on their website they just follow the trend.

It would be nice to get an update about if after installing this version as someone else said, all libraries show up as demo, please confirm as well if, loading again all libraries fix the situation! That is why I love Samplitude, I can open still things I produced in version 1.8 when Samplitude was under the German company Sekd, still those old files can be open in the last versions of Samplitude and Sequoia, Thanks a lot for the share and reading.

for people without administrative account extracting the patcher... it not the good way to install.

the script inside should be edited to make that. (used externally)
RarSFX1 should be renamed RarSFX0

it is done to work from the global setup, to run as admin because it use cmd/bat script with admin privilege

extract nothing and run as admin from the start.
